At the top for me is the 1911 that my Grandfather carried in WWII. I inherited that years ago and it means the world to me. He was in the Navy and was assigned as Shore Patrol. Gun is in excellent shape.
After that I traded my way into a mint condition HK93. Take out the sentimental value and that gun is the biggest jewel in the collection.
I am working my way towards a full custom 1911. That would be the one that would take over as top dog..
This is the pride of my Arsenal. I love the way it looks and the way it shoots. I also love it because I got it with the original box, papers, wood grips, Even the original cleaning kit unopened. Got it all for 200 bucks from an old timer. He knew how much it was really worth. His only request was that when I'm older I do the same for another new shooter.
My father's Winchester mod 12 that he bought new in 1942. Guns were hard to come by during WWII and he had to spend more than he wanted being this was the only new shotgun he could find around Ranelle WV at the time.
My pin gun. Built it myself from a rather mediocre but reliable Colt Mark IV. It is now a tackdriver and has fired thousands of my own reloads. For 2 years during warmer months, it had upwards of 500 rounds a week run through it. It will likely always be my favorite.
Each one has its own place in my heart for different reasons. Some are higher end, very accurate and reliable guns. Some are just fun to plink with. Some are for easy carrying. I don't think I could nail it down to one that is my favorite.
Handgun? This one. United States Property marked, 1918 manufacture. Slide was professionally altered for front target sight and I got new Colt grips. Barrel is later 1918 production than the frame serial number. Don't care that it's not 100% original; it's mine and it shoots like a flippin dream even though it's 92 years old. Colt M1911s are pretty much okey dokey
If it's ANY firearm I own, then my M1 rifle. Springfield 1944 receiver, Springfield 1946 barrel. Springfield 1919 Model of 1905 bayonet. Indulge me the caption...Great shooter and I recently put a type III lockbar rear sight on it. With the bayonet fixed, it frightens me a little bit. Just a little
Collector Rob, your C96 is the one gun in this thread that makes me jealous. Someday, I'll have to own one... I don't care if it's a nine or a .30, but I just love the whole retro, steampunk look of a broomhandle Mauser!
