Pride of your arsenal

I have to say my S&W Model 327 R8 M&P with the light rail on the barrel with a light bolted to ,and 8 shot's of .357mags. The aluminum revolver has pefect balance with the shrouded barrel.

It sleep's with me.:D

Picking only one (which was the question) -- I have an '03 Springfield that my grandfather sporterized and made a custom stock back in the 60s. He gave to my father and he gave it to me a couple of years ago. That's my pride.

Right now my Grandfather's Winchester 12 means quite a bit to me, but I keep trying to get my father to trade his very well kept Winchester 63 22lr for my 10/22. It will probably be a very sad day that I take her home.

S&W M&P-15. I love it. Accurate as heck, and there is nothing like shooting 30 rounds as fast as you can without having to reload. ;)

Mine's without a doubt the ugliest gun I own. A Japanese Arisaka, Type 99, that my dad brought home from Guam in WWII. Second choice would have to be the Marlin 49DL he gave me when I was a teenager. But I really can't count that one anymore since it really belongs to my son now and only resides in my closet.

Is it odd that in a handgun forum so many have selected a long arm as the favorite gun in their "arsenal"?

If I had to choose a handgun it would be my Smith Model 19-5. The one I have shot the most, however, is a stainless Colt 1991A1.

Oddly enough, it's my Kel-Tec P3AT. Even if I have on another holstered weapon, I feel naked without the KT in my back pocket...I guess that makes it my favorite.

Almost every gun I buy I buy because it strikes a cord in me in some way so I have pride in all of them but if I were to pick some...

Pride

Pride of.....I have two that come right to mind. If the house was burning down around me and I had time to grab just one, I'd get burned trying to decide between the two. I know that this is the pistol forum but both are rifles.

Right now, I favor the Rizzini.
Handguns....It'd be this old Gold Cup (scratch and all):

About that High Standard - nice pistol - it looks like one of the ML series, in which case it has the same grip angle as a 1911 as opposed to the Ruger .22s. The magazine is correct for the 1911 grip angle.
The first is an early Sport King with the short grip.

I don't have an arsenal. Arsenal is a word the media uses to hype a story and make anyone with 2 or more guns sound like a loon.

Rant-On:

I'm surprised at those that have a problem with the word "Arsenal"

Arsenal is defined as a collection of weapons. (www.merriam-webster.com) The only stigma attached to it is what is given by the person who is insulted or scared of how THEY interpret its meaning.

Rant-Off.

Back on subject: Some very nice pieces here.

Rifle: Israeli import FAL - SBL Industries.

Carbine: AC556

Handgun: Three way tie between: Belgian C-series Hi-Power, High polish SS Colt Match Trophy .45; Steyr GB.

If I had to pick just one, it would be the AC556.:)

my favorites

My Colt 2nd Generation .38 Special SAA 5.5" barrel
My S&W Model 27(no dash) 6.5"" barrel .357 revolver
My Colt Python 4" barrel nickel finish(1969)
My old, beat up Browning Hi-Power MarkIIIS 9mm-not my favorite caliber, but more reliable than the sunrise.
I love these kind of threads.:D

So many guns, so little time...

If I had to pick just one, it's this: A rifle I had built by the Remington Custom shop. It's a Model 7 Carbine in .350 Rem Mag with a 1x6 Burris scope with quick-detachable mount. I had them use laminated wood because... plastic...:barf: I chose a Mannlicher forearm because... I like it. And I wanted more weight up forward because I feared a heavy hitter in a small package (just under 7 pounds) might be better with more weight forward to dampen the lift in recoil. In practice, I don't think it makes any difference, but I still like the look.

I hunt deer in Kodiak and carrying this rifle gives me a very warm, fuzzy feeling because I sometimes see more grizzlies than deer. This rifle is my friend. It's short and handy enough to swing around in heavy alder brush, plenty accurate enough for deer and with enough steam to stop a bear.
