"Kel-Tec: it's what you carry when you can't carry a gun"

That was what most people said when the glock came out! Is the LCP a gun?

P3AT in a Desanti pocket holster in my right hip pocket. My wallet is in my left hip pocket.

I have never been about the pistol but i have been asked why I carry two wallets.

Semper Fi,

I pocket carry both a Glock 27 and a Ruger LCP on a daily basis. On duty, I wear 5.11 tactical (cargo)pants. The Glock rides in my strong side pocket to and from work then is switched to my Blackhawk Serpa for duty. The Ruger LCP always rides in my weak side cargo pocket for backup. My S&W 442 revolver sometimes replaces the Ruger LCP for a pocket backup gun. All 3 are carried in pocket holsters.

My favorite, a Seecamp LWS .380.

I voted snubby revolver, because >

  • They are so simple and un-demanding in times of stress
  • They can be fired from the hip in close quarters combat situations

I like the idea that I'd be able to put my off arm up in the bad guy's face to slow him down, while at the same time, shooting him at chest level with my strong arm held against my ribs.

Try this with an auto, and you will likely only get one shot, because it is likely to jam.

Also, if the bad guy makes a grab for the gun, had have to get the cylinder to disable a revolver, whereas all he'd need to do to disable the auto is grab/hit the slide and move it back 1/4".

Autos are easier to shoot well and reloads are faster, but I think in that kind of self defense situation, I would be fine with 5 rounds.

I predict that the new Kahr CM9 will become a VERY popular Pocket 9 and will be flying off the shelves for a long time to come.

DAdams....sweet! To me, one of the prettiest guns built! Based on internet garnered knowledge, my favorite pocket pistol! Never seen one; obviously never shot one, though I've owned two LWS 32s.
I've heard they are not for the "recoil sensitive", and I've never seen the usual "I've shot 4,000 rounds" type review. I understand they need more than usual recoil spring changes, but don't find that to be significant at 8 bucks a pop, or whatever.

So give us the scoop. Seecamps are a bit quirky; you have to read the manual, which most of us hate. Is it accurate? Easy to shoot? Firecracker bite, like an airweight Smith? Does it flip up/ torque to the left (or right?) ?
I know they don't have sights, but can you hit what you aim at at 7-10 yards? I'm hesitant to spend a grand on one, though if I had one and felt really proficient with it, it would replace double that in my rotation (but I wouldn't sell the others).

I love the little LWS32, but I never carry it. Is the .380 a REAL carry gun; one you can practice a lot with, enjoy shooting, knock the middle out of the target out at 7-10 yards?

An absolutely beautiful little gun....

What would you pocket carry?

Depends on what I'm wearing. In warmer weather, it's usually a KelTec PF-9. If I'm wearing a light jacket, it's a S&W 642. If it's shorts and sneakers, it's a KelTec P3AT.

A PF-9 is nice, but it easily overfills all but the biggest of my pockets. An LCP fits nicely in any pocket I have though.

You shoot a guy with a 22, all you're likely to do is make him mad.

Check out the new SIG 290 versus the 238.

It is barely larger than the 238:

Kel-Tec: it's what you carry when you can't carry a gun

LOL. That's about how I feel. I think I've carried my P32 once or twice in five years. I really should carry it more often. Same goes for my Sig P230 but it won't fit in a pocket.

Maybe I ought to look for something in a more effective caliber that will fit in a pocket.

As far as I can tell, only Rohrbaugh has beat Kahr in the micro 9 category. Including the new Kimber, SIG, and lesser mfgs attempts. The Kahr CM9 sounds promising; they certainly have the experience.

I don't own stock in Kahr and am not recommending them. I waited over a year after the PM9 came out to sell my MK9 and buy one. I wouldn't beta test one of the other new models either. I suspect Kahr learned it's lesson on the PM9 and PM45, before releasing the new CM9, but I could be wrong.
The CW series seems to be top-rate for the money, but not really pocket pistols.
I would take a breath, kick back, and watch the development in pocket 9's for a while. Seems to be where the interest is.

Personally, I'm content with my choice, the PM9...

i carry both a 38 snubbed revolver and [my favorite] a KelTec p3at [380]i also have been known to put a NAA in my *hoodie*pocket when im just walkin around....
