Piers Morgan show getting canceled

I always assumed he would be cancelled, I mean the guy is a pompous ass.

My biggest concern now is that England won't take him back.

I don't know if this is such good news. The longer CNN keeps people like Piers Morgan on their payroll, the quicker their demise. I'd like to see CNN and MSNBC concentrate all of the anti-gun lunatics on their stations and put them on in the same time slots as Duck Dynasty, Sons of Guns (not sure if that is still on), and whatever other gun friendly shows are out there. Let the people vote with their viewing and watch the antis spin on their heads!

Firing Piers Morgan was "smart", and I don't like when bad companies do smart things.

Points....

What the main US media groups & studios(many of whom are international businesses) don't seem to grasp is that American gun owners & license holders have;
$, or the ability to buy products & services(consumer based income)
knowledge or educations, the ability to watch-hear information & make coherent decisions(rational opinions), gun owners/CCW license holders also remember or retain information. They know who's two-faced or dishonest.
voting power, votes, gun owners can & should support elected leaders who endorse + 2A laws/bills & are not blaming law abiding gun owners for crime/soc problems. The US media can't control that & it frustrates them! :D
moral values & ethics, US gun owners & concealed license holders are by & large; loyal, patriotic, supportive of civic projects or causes(disaster relief efforts, crime prevention, safety, religious beliefs/church members, etc). Most US gun owners & permit holders are not involved in gangs, street crime or anti-social behavior.

All I can say is he forgot that England is the reason we have a Second Amendment.

He didn't forget, he exploited that for ratings. The gig just didn't last as long as he perhaps hoped. When you only have one drum to beat, people get tired of hearing it no matter how outrageous you are.

The network screwed up letting him go that far; that long memory thing Clyde mentioned.

CNN....

CNN is considered a joke at this point by most professionals in the broadcast industry.
Fox News Channel revels in pointing out CNN's goofs/failures/etc.
CNN's mgmt can't seem to find talent/broadcasters who are competent, interesting & fair-balanced.

HBO(another Time-Warner property like CNN) also cut The Newsroom. :D

If you didn't watch this tense drama about the TV news industry & broadcasting, it was extremely anti-gun/anti 2A at times.
I recall a episode with lead actor Jeff Daniels where his character lectures a woman about concealed guns, claiming "most criminals over-power & take guns away from them".
It's trite & simplistic to blame gun owners for crime but if those remarks were really true, then wouldn't 1000s of crimes be reported? Or the problems be so widespread, citizens could not carry concealed guns?

While I jumped for joy at this news, Fox News is no better, not by a 50 caliber long shot. While they may portray favor towards 2A, their extreme "lean" puts them far inside the entertainment box rather than true news IMO. Watching Piers on CNN was just as painful as watching any personality on Fox News. As a matter of fact, if Piers simply flip-flopped he's absolutely the perfect personality for Fox News.

But in the end, good riddance to Piers, seriously.

Actually, if we set confirmation bias aside, Fox has had more than its share of gaffes and retractions as well. They have a clear political bias, and one that's actually more consistent and evident than CNN.

Fox does have its high-profile celebrity hosts, and they draw viewership. CNN was trying to do the same with someone like Morgan. The problem is, he lacked charisma and he was a little too belligerent.

Who appears on Fox News regularly that is as viciously derogatory toward the 2nd Amendment and gun owners as was Piers Morgan? Who?

Good news for America , bad news for the UK. He might come back here. :(

British citizens (current or former) lecturing (Americans) on gun control,
I can totally understand that, I use to hate it when Americans lectured us and worse, in this part of the UK.

Manta, I've often wondered how I'd be perceived by the English if I visited their country wearing one of my NRA shirts, or some other gun/2nd Amendment type t-shirt. Not that I'm actually enough of a jackass to do such a thing, just wondering what kind of comments, jeers, or worse I could expect to encounter.

Stats don't lie....

I'd agree that Fox News Channel & it's networks are far from perfect. It's very biased too towards conservatives but they get the #s. CNN & CNBC do not.

Free TV(networks) are based on ads & ad revenue. If people or specific type of person(young males; 18-34, wealthy people with college/post college degrees, etc) don't view these programs or shows, ratings go down & the show gets the axe.
Glenn Beck was driven off of Fox News due to his extreme views/remarks. Don't forget he was on CNN too, ;).

PM might return to Great Britain is some new way but the US viewers won't miss him! :D

Its hard to say, if the shirt just said NRA most would not have a clue it was. If it said gun/2nd Amendment, again I think most would not notice or care. Piers Morgan does not represent the views of people in the UK.

The circulation of the Weekly World News trounced the combined circulation of every newspaper in my state at one point. That doesn't make them credible; it just means they're good at pulling in an audience. It's very dangerous to mistake popularity for credibility.

They'd probably assume you were just a member of the NRA.

That is interesting. I can't speak for others, but I certainly get the impression that Mr. Morgan's views are typical of those who reside in the UK. I'm glad to hear that he's considered a bit "out there", even for the English.

Clyde, then just to be clear, when you say that "Fox news is no better", you are not referring to any commentary from Fox taking a negative stance on gun owner's rights or the 2nd Amendment as compared to CNN, just that you think Fox is biased towards conservatives?
