P320 Subcompact 9mm range results and ammo selections. Pictorial review.

Is the trigger too light for IWB?

I picked one up and dry fired the trigger..... Light and short

Awesome

Almost too light and short..... For carry

p229 fan......

Is the trigger too light for IWB?

It's heavier than Glock, VP9, XD, PPQ, and M&P. Are those too light to carry?

Hey man what did he do to reduce the weight? All I want is to get mine down to 6 lbs. from the 7 lbs. it is now. I do notice my VP9 breaking in (more in feel than weight) but this has never moved an ounce from day one. Very consistent at least.

I'm not sure exactly what was done. I think most of it was just polishing connecting surfaces, but I'd say to give him a call or shoot him an email. Robert is super personable, prompt, and polite. I' suspect he can probably get the trigger to whatever you want it. I'm really happy with it right at the 5lb mark and buttery smooth. I thought my factory version was smooth from the start, but after his work it's like glass. I like it well enough that he'll be doing more trigger work for me, for sure.

If you use a proper IWB holster I suspect it’ll be fine. I realize some folks like to simply stuff the gun in their waistband, but I’m not sure that’s a safe method of carry for any gun.

It is not heavier than my stock M&Ps were.

The trigger seemed like an SA trigger

It "felt" like 4.5lb ish....

And.... It seems much shorter than a glock

It is shorter. It is not lighter. If you don't like striker fired "safe-action" triggers stick with the P229. That's not meant as an insult, but there's no getting around it feeling lighter and shorter than any true DA first pull.

They tend to be around 7-7.5lb out of the box.

I polished parts and got the pull smoothed up and the pull down to a little over 6lb. To do more would require a lot more detailed polishing than I am willing to do.

I have one over on Sig talk.

Here it is.

Just watch out for the sear Springs. They are held in partial tension by the sear because one retaining pin holds it down a little.

Pull that pin and the sear will rotate out and the springs may go flying.

I mention this caution in the thread.

My P320 compact came in yesterday and I cleaned it up and took it to the range today.

Shot 60 rounds of a variety of ammo including JHP and had no issues at all.

What is really a welcome surprise is the lack of a trigger finger "slap" you get with a Glock.

The gun is VERY pleasant to shoot and more accurate than I am. I am liking this a lot.

I've had a bunch of Glocks, and never experienced that "slap."

I've heard it mentioned with CZs, too -- and have had a bunch of those, as well -- and never felt it there, either.

Does anyone know what causes this phenomenon? (The causes might be different with striker-fired guns than hammer fired guns, I suppose...)

All my Glocks do it. Some more pronounced than others. The G30 and G19 are the worst and the G21 is the best. My XDM does not and none of my 1911's do it nor any of my CZs.

If I shoot any of the Glocks for any length of time, I get a very sore spot on my trigger finger. Shoot it enough and I will get a callous. When the callous develops, the Glocks don't bother me so much. Just need to shoot them a lot. I think it is the center piece of the trigger that must be pressed to allow the trigger to come all the way to the rear.

In any event, it is a welcome surprise the P320 does not do that.

Walt,

The absolute worst for me was the duty gun a friend of mine has with the New York trigger. I just refuse his offer to shoot his gun. It bothers me that much.

Reviving an old thread, I know... But this one is relevant and my comment didn't deserve is own thread.

I just wanted to say that I'm in Vegas for the weekend and stopped by American Shooters yesterday. I finally handled a P320 Sub Compact... I should not have done that.

It instantly went to the top of my "to buy" list, I've fallen in love with the 320 platform this year. I have the full size and compact already. The compact is my main carry gun. I was surprised at how different the sub compact felt.

I really had no interest in it before handling it. I found it visually unappealing, and I usually don't like subcompact guns. I don't like the way my pinky feels when hanging off. For whatever reason, the 320 didn't bother me at all. It was very comfortable in hand. The grip on the small size frame is vastly different than the compact. It's so thin! I can't believe the gun holds 12+1. And the option of the 15 or 17 round mags is a bonus.

I gotta have one....

All of y'all praising the P320, this is your fault. But Mystro, I am blaming you because you are the ringleader! Won this P320 Compact w/N.S. off GB last night for $505 shipped.

Next in size is the "Compact":
It is about the size of a Glock 19. It has a longer slide and frame than the subcompact with a squared off trigger guard and accessory rails for a light if you wish. Great all purpose size for carry and LE.

Certainly will be the most popular size for new and experienced shooters since its larger frame is easier to fit most hands and mitigate recoil. Flush fit magazines hold 15+1 of 9mm and 13+1 of 40s&w, 357Sig. Sight radius is 5.8"
Barrel length is 3.9"

Not a P320, but my P250 Compact w/compact small frame and Gen 4 Glock 19:
