P320 Subcompact 9mm range results and ammo selections. Pictorial review.

Sig could make a killing here if they would market this pistol correctly. A little display with the different frame sizes and widths (like what S&W does) would be great. When I had my p320 compact medium I often wondered if the small grip would fit better but didn't want to spend $45 to find out.

I do like the idea of being able to switch the entire frame for $45 in case you decide to try to stipple yourself.

All of y'all praising the P320, this is your fault. But Mystro, I am blaming you because you are the ringleader! Won this P320 Compact w/N.S. off GB last night for $505 shipped.

I'll take full responsibility.:) I was just shooting my P320SC with HST 124 and 147+p. Wow does this gun like HST ammo. One ragged hole at 10yards. I particularly like the SubCompact size out of the entire line. It shoots so well for me and adding a extended mag only makes it better feeling that there is no reason I need a bigger gun in 9mm. My trigger weight is less than 5lbs without any modifications other than it breaking in from shooting it and cleaning/lubing. Its right up there with my PPQ Classic that blows away any of my other striker fire guns that were modded to improve their trigger. Ghost and Apex still are not as good as my P320 and PPQ with their stock trigger.

Here was a size comparison pic I took of the P30SK. Excellent compact pistol. It was a bit chunky in size considering the barrel is shorter and it held two less rounds than the P320SC when its size would have you believe it might hold a extra round over the P320SC thinner grip.

I developed some buyers ideas and strategies for the P320 modular platform. I had to take some pictures and some comparison sizes between the P320 Subcompact and the Compact. My Subcompact is in 9mm and my Compact is in 40S&W. I will get into some interchangeable ideas you might want to try.

The size is noticeable between the two. The Subcompact is thinner and shorter.

A interesting modular idea to try is to put a Compact slide on a Subcompact frame. This setup works well. To add more rounds but still keep the thinness of the Subcompact frame, add a Compact magazine with a X tension filler sleeve. If you have a Compact now, buy just the Subcompact frame and see if it isn't easier to carry.

A Subcompact slide on a Compact frame doesnt work but it is functional.
One could cut down the Compact frame if you had to. I see no tactical advantage with this combo.

The best max fire power and concealment is the P320 Subcompact with the larger Compact magazine with a X tension filler sleeve. This setup is awesome and what I would recommend for a first time P320 buyer. Its thin, light, and the way to go if you want a versatile 9mm. I was shocked how good it felt in my xl hands.
By buying just the Subcompact and using the various magazines you have the best of both worlds between a P320 SC and P320 Compact. Use the 12+1 round Subcompact mag for ultimate deep carry or use the 15+1 round compact magazine with filler sleeve. The filler sleeve feels great and gives you the Compact feel but still remaining thinner. Its a win win.

A great light weight carry rig for the P320 Subcompact is this Uncle Mikes Size 16 shoulder holster. 31 rounds of 9mm and gun in a very light weight package.

For the P320 Compact, I found that the Galco leather shoulder rig for my P229 fit the P320 Compact perfectly.

While digging though my holsters I also found another gem. A Dan Hume Leather holster for my HK USP Compact fits the P320 Compact very well.

I got a chance to weigh the P320 Compact loaded (not one in chamber) and unloaded.

The P320 Subcompact loaded with the extended mag and unloaded weights.

In conclusion, if you want to carry the P320 in 9mm, then the Subcompact is the way to go over the Compact from my observations. The X tension filler sleeve on the larger Compact 15 round magazine essentially gives you the Compact version but being able to change to a Subcompact with a quick mag switch. The sight radius is still plenty long for a day at the range. The 9mm is a pussycat in the SC. Now if you move up to a 40 or 357sig, then a Compact with its wider frame will mitigate recoil better. I love this P320 as a modular platform and as a stand alone gun. I have 28.5 handguns in my collection and the P320 Platform could probably eliminate half of them. (No joking) (the .5 is the X change kit)

Mystro, great analysis and pics. Thanks! I'm happy enough with my G19 not to care about the P320 in 9mm but I'm curious to hear of these kinds of comparisons when the 45 compact is out. Sounds like it could give the G30 some real competition.

[emoji106] [emoji106] [emoji106] Excellent follow up Mystro. These next 3 1/2 we need to hurry up and get here so that I can get home and pick mine up! Chomping at the bit to get it out to the range and run it through it's paces!!!
