?????????????????????????

Sarah Brady is pround of me? Thats dumb as hell because Smith are the one who went along with the Clinton administrations legislation! So wouldn't Sarah Brady be more proud that you are pumping money into a Anti gun Machine! As for the post about my bias opinion hurting alot of people into not getting a quality gun! Im sorry I helped alot of people keep from spending a lot on a name! I didn't realize this was a crime! I for one am proud to help people into a better gun, aka Browning which has never turned on America!
Im sorry I can't join the pole smokers society!

The current S&W company did not side with the enemy!
While you are correct technically, the current owners did not make the agreement, they purchased the Smith and Wesson name.

If they expect to get the good that comes with that, they have to accept the negative as well. They didn't design the model 29, the top break revolvers of the 19th century, or any of the other advances of the previous incarnations of the company.

They can't say "we're great because of all the wonderful products of the past," and then argue "but don't hold us accountable for the stupidity of the past."

Agree with the government, or be sued out of business
Anyone else get "sued out of business?" Anyone, Anyone, Buhler, Buhler...
Anyone else make the sellou...I mean agreement?

As to the "divide and conquer" comment, ask yourself this; who did the dividing first? I'd say the knife in our collective back was the first act of division.

It wasn't the current companies stupid decision. It is now owned by a lot of the same people who were there when the agreement was made, and they are not following in the former companies footsteps. I think that speaks for itself.

You need to read more, and type less.

Ever hear of mayor Daly? Even though Bush signed into law a bill that prohibits cities from suing gun companies for the crimes commited by criminals, that numbnut is still filing suits, trying to bankrupt any gun co. he can. So are a lot of other left wing loons, that are in places of power.

A gun maker is anti gun???? I'm pretty sure not buying a gun would make the anti's happier than buying one.
BTW, with the exception of a model 500, I have not purchased any S&W's with the internal lock. I have purchased many earlier made Smiths.
I like all guns. I own guns from many makers. I like variety. S&W makes a quality product and is still the number one selling firearms/revolver maker. I would hate to see any firearms maker go under. You may not like the companies management as well as I don't care for our countries current management but that doesn't mean I'm going to throw the whole country out.

So what if Bill Ruger was against CCWs. Did he side with the political enemy and become a leader in the fight against our rights? Did he give the opponents of ownership legal, intellectual, and moral ammunition to use against us? The answer is no. Whatever his personal beliefs, he didn't try to join with the political enemy.
A gunmaker openly stating on a talk show that concealed carry should not be allowed is most certainly not helping our rights.
As for Colt, again, so what? That is a strategic business decision.
As was S&W's... to keep from being sued out of business.
I do not agree with what S&W's management did but I would hate to see them (or any other quality gunmaker) go under.

I've owned 4 S&W revolvers (and am issued 1). I love them all, but the older ones are definitely of a higher quality.

I am happy with my S&W's

Hi,
I own two.

My S&W 4006 (0.40 S&W) is my EDC gun, I am comfortable with it and find it to be very reliable with a great plus that it is S Steel so it is not affected by rust (sweat, humidity etc). another advantage IMO is that the first round can be fired DA, then it switches to SA. This allows me to carry with one in the chamber, safery off, hammer down which means that if I need to bring it to action there is absolutely nothing I need to do before pulling the trigger, and the first shot is hard enough to prevent an unintended shot, yet light ( and smooth) enough to be comfortable.

The presence of a mag safety is also good, in a worst-case scenario where I am overpowered and the gun is about to be snatched from me (as much as we all like to think otherwise, this can happen to anyone, and it helps to have a plan) I can eject the mag and render the gun inoperable so that it cannot be used against me immediately, which gives me another chance to fight back.

The other is my 6" barrel 586, which has the best trigger (DA and SA) I have seen in many revolvers, I use it for IDPA, Pin-shooting (with great success) and metal silouhette.

DiscoRacing
, how do you find the 4006? I have had mine since 92' very shotly after they came into the market, and I am very comfortable with it. However, it is not a common model here and I am curious to see what others think of it.

Brgds,
Danny

I own a number of S&W revolvers, all of mine are pre-lock. I've never met a S&W I didn't really like. I admit to not caring for the new locks; and to me the two-piece barrel is a tragedy waiting to happen. That said, I've fired a number of new S&W's that I thought were really nice. While I think you can find Taurus revolvers that work well, they will never gain the reputation for reliability that S&W has. I think the Taurus is a fairly dependable gun for home defense or casual use, I've never known of a major law enforcement agency that has issued (or recommended) them for duty. If I were carrying a duty revolver I'd carry a S&W. If the agency provided the weapon I wouldn't feel any less secure with a Ruger GP-100 or even a Security Six. Given a choice I'd carry a S&W 657 with 4' or 5' barrel. Hands down, I think the S&W or Ruger are much more dependable and better made revolvers than the Taurus.

If you are comparing pistols, I think the Taurus is much closer in overall reliability and accuracy to the other two guns.

My local PD uses an arsenal of S&W semi-autos in .40 and they're very happy with them. I bought the same pistol as my first gun and think it's fantastic, sitting at around 4000 rounds with no problems.

I liked it so much I bought a second gun, an M&P 340 airweight (with the lock), and really like it too. I only have about 500 rounds through it so far but it's been very reliable as well.

In fact, I just bought my 3rd smith, a 22a .22lr semi auto. It should be here next week.

All you people who HATE Smith and Wesson - thanks for not buying any of them. Please stay away from all Smith Autos, especially 2nd and 3rd generation guns stainless steel Autos.:barf::barf::barf:

More cheap gems for me:D

I have had a few S&W revolvers through the years and still own a M19-8 and M686-4. I've always been impressed with the fit and finish of the pieces and personally have never found anything else with as amazing a SA/DA trigger pull. They have made poor political decisions in the past, but are under new ownership since then.

I'm not a fan of S&W semi-autos / but I am a fan of their pre-internal frame lock revolvers - and I have 11 of them currently ( 6 in .357 mag / 1 in .38 spl / 1 in .22 / 3 in .44 mag .....) and always looking for 3 or 4 more ...

I'm a big fan of Smith & Wesson firearms and their customer service. I will continue to buy their fine products.

Imo, we in the firearm/shooting/hunting community need to quit nursing old grievances, understand that nobody is perfect and realize that when we continue to savage and punish our own for their past perceived indiscretions, we only make it easier for those who truly want to destroy our rights and liberties to have their way.

They repair/replace everything for free and pay for shipping both ways.

If their revolvers aren't worth the price tag, their customer service is.

I buy quality firearms or at least try to. Don't care who built them. I figure if they're building firearms they're on my side to one degree or another. I've only owned one S&W with a serious problem, a mod 66 that spit lead. Abuse from a previous owner. S&W fixed it and I sold it. I've owned dozens of Smiths and plan on many more in the future.
