Militias = White Supremacists?

I personally have nothing against militias in general, but ya know, there ARE militias out there made up of red neck Nazi Klan ninjas, and just like police depts., a few make all look bad. Police your own if you want credibility and respect.

I don't have to. There's idiots in every section of society, including whatever group you choose to align yourself with. It is this sort of faulty logic that allows these groups to exist.

And by the way, the title of the thread is: Militas=White Supremacists, which is of course, bunk. And in response to Handy's insightful statement about all militias being insecure little men who want to hate people or whatever, my example of the state militia clearly shows that not to be the case.

In short, try to expand your mind a little. Don't just make claims and draw conclusions without adequate information. It helps if you are willing to at least consider another point of view. I know. I am urinating in the breeze.

*sigh*

My first post, but I thought it relevant to the discussion at hand...

This was taken off a website dedicated to various state militias. While there will ALWAYS be apples that fall far from the tree this is supposedly the statement of ethics and mission statement which all state militias are to adhere to.

NATIONAL MILITIA STANDARDS
www.awrm.org

1.0 STATEMENT OF ETHICS

It is the duty of the citizen’s militia to protect and defend the unalienable Rights of all members of the community. Under no circumstances will the militia of [state] tolerate those who advocate acts of criminal violence, terrorism, racism or a change away from our republican form of government; nor will it support any specific political party or candidate, nor espouse any particular religious denomination or doctrine. All members must understand the duties and obligation of both citizens and government under the [Constitution].

1.1 MISSION STATEMENT

The members of the [state] unorganized militia shall ever stand, as have our Forefathers before us, first to God, from Whom we acknowledge the Authority of all Rights, and all the blessings of governments and to our native soil, [state]. We therefore pledge:

To promote and defend the unalienable God-given rights of all citizens, regardless of race, sex or national origin, as is expressed in the [state] [Constitution] and the Bill of Rights of the [U.S. Constitution].

To promote and defend the principles of just government bequeathed to us by our forefathers to whit, That the principle of the Tenth Amendment shall stand inviolate, as history has shown that the greatest system of checks and balances exists with the people and their States to check the powers accrued by the federal government. That the integrity of the courts, be they local, State or federal, shall remain uncontemptable providing that they shall respect and uphold the rights of the citizens of [state], including but not limited to, upholding the due process of law, and to preserve the right of trial by jury and to obtain immediate judicial review of cases wherein abuse of basic [Constitutional] rights are questioned.

That all power is inherent in the people, and all free governments are founded on their authority, and instituted for their Life, Liberty, and Property; for the advancement of those ends they have at all times an unalienable and indefeasible right to alter, reform, or abolish the government in such manner as they may think proper.

That government being instituted for the common benefit, the doctrine of nonresistance against arbitrary power is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind.

That all just government is servant of the people who have instituted it, that the people of [state] should never by force nor coercion be obliged to anything styled as "law" which has not been promulgated by their duly elected representatives, nor any as may be promulgated by them to bear conflict to the rights of the people, so that no government shall be made master of the people of [state].

To promote and propagate the militia of [state] as a well regulated, (trained and prepared) organization knowledgeable in historical precedent and current affairs, that is composed of common citizens.

To develop a cohesive and competent command structure.

To train our members in the many disciplines necessary to the function of the militia as a whole and to the members individually.

To educate our members in areas of history, law and principle as compiled in the experience and records of our forefathers.

To keep informed our members, and all citizens of events Local, State, National and global that threaten to imperil our traditional Constitutional rights, or such as may imperil the sovereignty of our Nation by the undue influence of those who have forsaken their loyalty to our Nation, and to the principles upon which it was founded. To repel foreign aggression and invasions, by preparing and training for defense and by our encouraging and showing reason why all citizens should stand stoutly against socialism, fascism, communism, humanism, and all forms of tyranny.

To suppress domestic insurrections and violence, by supporting and assisting the appropriate Officers of the Law in upholding and maintaining law and order in accordance with such Local, State, and Federal statutes and laws that do not present jeopardy to our God given rights as acknowledged in the [state] and [U.S. Constitutions].

As with ANY large gatherings of people, views and agendas will very greatly. If one was so inclined to toss a stone at any one militia group stating that they had RACIST members and therefore labelling the entire group as "RACIST", would that not be the same thing as (racial, gender, or political) profiling?

And who wrote this jem? How is it enforced, or even disseminated? Have most militia groups even heard of it?

I'm not a member of anything of such nature (unless unaware of state laws saying I am automatically state militia) so I can't say one way or the other. I honestly don't know who wrote those statements I quoted. Evidently, though, it was written by some group who grasps the true meaning of the word militia, no?

I simply posted my last for focus on what a militia is supposed to be. I guess that many militia groups who are truly serious about what the main goal is would enforce these stipulations within their members(?).

Truth is, the word MILITIA has been broadened to encompass just about every group whose members carry a firearm on a regular basis and gather regularly but do not have any governmental or legitimate reason to do so other than their second ammendment right. This can be anything from religious groups to biker gangs, IMO. It's become a media 'power word' to strike fear into the hearts of sheeple and soccer mommies everywhere across the nation to "Disarm those evil gun owners!".

Funny, when the media says "militia", people cringe in fear and loathing. When people say the word "media", it is I who cringe in disgust and loathing... :barf:

When I read some of the materials on the white supremacy sites, I was very surprised to read some of the very same opinions that are popular here:
On the other hand if you go to the Southern Poverty Law site or ACLU site you'll find some of the same opinions that are popular here.

Citizens should have equal opportunity?
Citizens should have freedom from fear of being attacked or abused?
Citizens should have the right to self determination?
Citizens should have freedom of speech?

(Of course Morris Dees and the ACLU are soft on the issue of Blacks actually OWNING guns, but that is another story.)

the word MILITIA has been broadened to encompass just about every group whose members carry a firearm on a regular basis
I noticed back in the 60's that the media had decided every two bit camel herder who shot at Israeli soldiers was a militiaman. Every textbook and tv reference to the Militia in the Continental Army, the War of 1812, and the Civil War seemed to mention how "ineffective" they were and what bufoons were their officers. (The same textbooks left out just how bloodthirsty were the 'regular' troops who fought the 19th century Indian Wars.) I suspected then that there was a move afoot to change the language to make the word mean a defamatory combination of Barbary Pirate and Barney Fife. Nothing in that opinion has changed in the last 40 years.

- the threat of Mexican influx to the white race
- the government as an illegal mafia that must be opposed by patriots
- the government as controlled by a small hidden elite
- a media conspiracy to disinform the people
- random drunk driving stops as the first step towards total control by Big
Brother (who is actually controlled by the secret Zionist elite)
- a sinister New World Order superstate

The threat of the mexican influx of illegal immigrants is to EVERY Americans way of life in regards to jobs and security of our country, not just to the white people.

Which part of the government specifically is like a mafia? Or are they refering to the government as a whole. I've never heard of the italians creating medicaid programs for THEIR senior citizens.

Which teeny tiny hidden elite are they talking about, the republicans, or the democrats.

Usually cops pull you over for drunk driving when you show obvious signs of DRIVING A CAR WHILE DRUNK. Usually that means swerving across every line painted on the road and plowing into mini-vans full of families.

New world order superstate? At least this country has the balls to go after people like saddam and osama who are enthusiastic killers rather than bloviating all damn day like most of the U.N. countries.

KKK members and Nazis are nothing like law abiding gun owners, or general state militias. I can't see how anyone could confuse the two. Hate is not an emotion with which to base any belief on.

A real, live militia member checking in.

Jack Malloy said:
Most "militias" are just redneck rod and gun clubs.
Hmm. We let's see here… I'm a project manager who does a lot of work for the Air Force, and am currently getting my master's degree in electrical engineering. We have an LEO in our group. Another is ex-Marine. One gentleman served in the Air Force and currently works as a logistics expert at a local AFB. A couple others are ex-Army. Just to name a few.

Yea, we're just a bunch of toothless, illiterate rednecks.

I find it interesting that so many TFL members claim to know so much about the unorganized militia, yet they have never known a militia member, nor have they attended a militia training session. We get all bent out of shape when the Sarah Brady crowd wrongly stereotypes gun owners, yet we have no qualms when we turnaround and do the same to other groups.

I've been an active member of the unorganized militia for a number of years. I founded a county-based group and regularly train with other militia members. If you have a question about the militia (any question), I'm confident I can provide a more accurate & objective answer than most anyone else here. So fire away...

The belief of the Founding Fathers

The Founding Fathers believed that every able-bodied man was part of the militia. This is why the Second Amendment speaks of "a well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state." The term regulated, in 1789 English meant outfitted and trained.

It is also revealing that the Constitution reserves to the states the calling of the militia and the appointment of officers. In fact the original Militia Act made every man over eighteen and under fourty a member of the Militia.

This is the main reason that I eschew the term "civillian." In a free nation, I am a citizen. As Thomas Jefferson said "...It is right and good that, at all times the people have the right and the duty to be armed."

In my view, the militia of citizens cannot be racist because it comprises anyone who still has the sense and sensibility to be armed. Of course this excludes felons and aliens who have not been naturalized.

As far as I can see, the last line of defense in this country is the people. This is particularly true at a time when our military are serving overseas. Sadly, those who would make us less than free continue to enact disarmament and pacification laws. This is particularly unnerving when those same people have proof that armed citizens reduce crime. It really makes one wonder what they (liberals) are really trying to accomplish.

Just because some white supremacist groups seem to share some of the same beliefs with some people here doesn't mean those people are white supremacists. Multicultural Politically Correct people who in reality have no culture of their own would like you to believe that though. They are the same idealogues who believe in egalatarianim, that is the idea that everyon is equal (meaning the same) and there are no differences. They are the same kind of people who came down on Reggie White (a Christian black man btw) for his comments on racial differences some years back. The only thing they believe in is their own SELF righteousness. It is these kind of people who in reality cause the very racial problems that they proport to eliminate. Militant race hating groups like the KKK and some of these militia types are actually a result of these self righteous egalatarian crusaders. Call them liberals, call them poverty pimps, call them yankees, call them communists, call them socialists, call them egalatarians or whatever they are all the same thing. They want the same thing, a state in which nobody is any different (despite their shallow rally cry weapon of "tolerance" and "diversity") than anyone else or has any loyalty to any local group or culture. If everyone is homogenous it is easier to control them.
The fact is eveyone, white, black, brown, yellow, etc. of every culture and nation has, or at least should, pride in who they are and a desire to maintain it and enjoy it. NOT A THING WRONG WITH THIS. Where the Klan types go wrong is in the fact that they seek harm and distruction towards others. They are a bad ungodly reaction against an ungodly problem. Therefore if anyone belives in pride in his own race or culture and seeks to preserve and protect it, then he is not an egalatarian and therefore, according to the Politically Correct crowd, must be a racist and is no different than KKK members who seek to harm black people or Al Quaida terrorists who fly airplanes into buildings.

I am a believer in the militia concept. A more true representation of this is in what some states have now called State Defense Forces or State Guards (a militia is not the National Guard as gun control advocates claim). Nothing per se wrong with volunteers training in weapons even if they are not officially part of a state government organized group. As long as they work publicly and within the law and seek only to defend themselves and others with just and honorable means and keep bitterness and hatred out then they are fine. This is what our Founding Fathers believed, they stood on their rights, not on force of arms as the French Revolutionaries did. that is the main difference between some of these modern militia types and what a true milita was supposed to be. The former is revolutionary, the latter believes in liberty and law.

The Southern Poverty Law Center is a Marxist organization obsessed with rationing free speech.
AMEN!

Here's what the ADL says about some militias - and we know the ADL hates militias like the plague:

[Trochmann] influence undoubtedly contributed to the second reason for MOM's success, namely its ability to cultivate and promote a paranoid-style world view without descending into racism or anti-Semitism

There was room even for African American militia leaders like J. J. Johnson of Ohio and Leroy Crenshaw of Massachusetts

Clearly the idea of militias is not in any way INHERENTLY racist - even though some people will continue to claim it is.
