Looking for a beach gun

I'm a beach bum of sorts, but the beach I frequent is in a high-crime area. I need to find a gun and carry system that will allow me to have some protection for my fun in the sun. I love my Sig but it's just unconcealable in board shorts and no shirt so I'm looking at my .380 options. My considerations:

- Could be exposed to saltwater. Not planning to take it on a swim, but stuff happens.
-Sand may be an issue.
-Needs to be concealed without a shirt.
-There could be problems with printing if I unexpectedly get wet.

I was looking at the Kel-tec and the LCP but the LCP is backordered into the next century. Any suggestions on a weapon for this role? What about some ideas for carry methods? I'm keeping an open mind about this one.

Well the LCP is a good choice but, like you said may not
be available right away in your area.

Nothing wrong with the Kel Tec P3AT.. thats what I have
and it's so small you won't even know it's in your pocket.

You could also consider a small .38 snubby but, it won't
be as light weight as the two above that are mentioned.

Beach gun, sounds like a Bonds arms derringer would fit the bill for what your looking for, would probably fit right in the little bathing suit pockets what more do you need at the beach?????

For some stupid reason, a lot of board shorts don't have hip pockets. I guess the simple solution is to only buy shorts with pockets, but I'm thinking about sewing a hanging pocket for it inside the waistband anyway. I've never pocket carried because the lack of retention makes me nervous. Shallow swiming trunks pockets + gun = bad situation. Does salt effect guns like it effects cars? Should I be looking for a certain finish on it?

>>>Guess I'll be the first to say it...board shorts - shirt + saltwater + firearms = nope.<<<

I would disagree but I'd also suggest that the firearm needs to be all stainless & plastic and one would be wise to carry some starter fluid and WD-40 to flush it with and then spray it down with back at the car if gets wet. Make a little kit box and put it in the trunk. (Throw away rags please - no oily rags in the trunk unless you want your car to burn down!) And I like the idea of the pocket sewn inside the waist band.

Lastly, if the gun gets doused and it's needed, do bear in mind that water locked in the barrel can be disastrous...

OK, maybe I am an idiot, but am I the only one who sees a much easier way to solve this problem?

Why does this remind me of the old joke about the cowboy new to the beach stuffing a potato in his shorts to attract girls ... :D

Are you happy to see me or is that a Glock ...

uh...what wrong with that? I, uh, do it all the time

I dunno, if the place you liked to go was all of a sudden overrun with crime, would you stop going to your favorite place out of fear of crime?

Haha Heck, if I'm gonna shorts-stuff I'm gonna use a government 1911!

No way! I won't let the scumbags run me out of my hang-out; I'd just end up running away forever because there's always going to be scumbags. I'll just have something for them if they want to hurt me and my friends.

another endorsementr of theNAA mini revolver.

1) Stainless steel
2) The cylinder gap would allow any water to drain out before firing if it gets submerged
3) You could conceal it in a pair of daisy duke cut offs and a halter top

1 It would have to be SS 2 Very easy take down to clean if in saltwater 3 Small enough to conceal well. I would say a Kel-tec .32 or a .380 in SS if they make one. You can flush it out with fresh water then do the WD40 and let dry. How long it will last?????????:) They are made in FL so should be able to get good service if needed:) Just looked NO SS hard Chrome or parkerized only
