largest caliber you'd carry

as far as bore... I own several guns in 50 A.E. & a Blackhawk revolver in 50 A.E. Special ( shortened just enough, that heavy cast boolets fit in the cylinder )...

but those guns honestly don't get carried much, they are more range guns...

for woods carry, it's my Alaskan in 454 Casull, or an old custom Dan Wesson snubbie in 44 Mag

daily carry, is either an antique S&W top break single action in 38 S&W, or my "newer" Air Lite L frame in 44 special... but I'm currently building a new 45 Colt snubbie on a new Vacquero, with a birds head grip, which will become my new everyday carry gun... it's chambered in 45 Colt

I've made it part of my "look" to wear a vest almost all the time. Lighter in summer and heavier in winter. Since I sit at a desk or am in the car most work days, I find a shoulder holster is most comfortable. I especially like vertical style so big barrels are not much problem. Often carry a 6 1/2" N frame in 10 mm (610). The same holster, Bianchi X15, also holds my 7 1/2" Super Blackhawk (44 Mag) or a 6" L frame in 357 Mag.

I actually had a Ruger SRH, 454 Cassul on my ccw permit (we can have 3). I spend a lot of time in the mountains and it made a good jeep gun.

The reason I carry a .45 ACP in populated environments is because they don't make a .46 ACP.

In bear country I favor the .41 or .44 Magnum as a minimum. 12 Guage is my preferred caliber in bear country, but is not always practical.

Well, currently I usually carry a 45 acp G21, but I'm thinking about getting a 50GI conversion kit for it, Too bad they run $600:eek:

I guess the largest I would consider carrying would be the .45ACP. That said I carry the 9mm always.

45 ACP or 10mm depending on the situation. Both guns are the same size G29/30. I sometimes carry my 1911, Choices are a good thing.

Biggest I have ever CC'd is my .44 mag S&W 629 with 4" barrel, 3/4 underlug. I used to carry my XDm .45 on a regular basis. Heck, I've CC'd all my pistols except my .41 mag Blackhawk (haven't had it long enough but I plan to do it soon). My new primary will be my XDm 3.8 .40 S&W.

44 Magnum, particulary up here in Bear and Puma country.
posted from Arizona - proof that the world is indeed round and much in life is relative, or related, or some such thing...

Normally carry either 10mm auto or .45 auto in pistol, otherwise it has gauge and drummers drumming attached if we are truly talking biggest "hole"; a little Christmas time cheer...

largest

The largest caliber that I'd carry is 0.452". That would be when I'm carrying a handgun chambered for the .45 ACP cartridge or the 45 Colt. The 45 Colt is, dimensionally, the largest cartridge that I'd carry.

I normally carry a .357 revolver loaded with .38 +P in town, and loaded with .357 JHP when hiking or in the country. I've carried my husband's 1911 .45 ACP. If we lived farther north, in grizzly bear country, I'd consider getting a .44 magnum or larger, but I can't imagine carrying that where I live. No need.
