largest caliber you'd carry

I often OC a revolver in .44 magnum when I'm out tromping in the woods. Anything bigger than that is too heavy & unpleasant to shoot.

The biggest caliber I've CC'd is .357 magnum, but I'd consider .44 spl if the right gun landed in my hands.

In terms of bore and power, in technicality, a .44 magnum. No technicality, .45 ACP. Having a CCW makes it easier to transport both ammo and pistol to the range, I don't have to have the mag empty, grab the Deagle and go. But actually carrying it, like I said, .45 ACP

I wish they'd make a .50 Auto (Think .45 ACP style casing but holds a .50 round instead of a .45 round). I'd love to have a barrel and bushing set for a 1911 for a round like that. Not as powerful as .50 AE and similar to the .45 ACP in performance? Nice. It would be useful as an SD round for those that want max caliber. Not that it would be any better, but it would be a different flavor.

i am a slim not crack head skinny but 6'1 175-185
i carry a fullsize 1911 without any problems i can wear what i want and still have it ccw but for the days i choose a lighter carry its the s/w ve 40 i ussualy carry the 1911 cause i am not comfortable with the trigger pull on my s/w i didnt realizes just how heavy it is and at 10 yrds will miss a soup can
i dont think that caliber matters as much as familiarity with your firearm as tony said the best shooting gun is the gun that you shoot best

I routinely carry a Kahr MK40 but sometimes one of a couple of 380s I own. I have a S&W 386 357mag but it is too bulky for ccw with the 7 round cylinder. I live in Sou FL and spend most of the time in t-shirt and shorts. I carry all of the time so size and weight are a consideration. YMMV. :)

.357 mag. (for hiking/camping where cougars and bears live). For in-town, I see no reason to carry more than a 38(+p).

.357/.45 for CC.
OC- in Montana probably a .44 or .45LC, probably something like a .357 in non-bear/moose country.

hand grenade...

seriously though anything bigger than .380

i often carry a Colt New Agent (.45acp), Ruger SP01 (.357mag), or/and Keltec PF9 (9mm)

either OC or CC, whats the largest size caliber you would consider carrying?....

That's a very open ended question.

The largest caliber I would carry is .45, because that's the largest caliber handgun I own.

The largest cartridge handgun I have carried is .45-70. I have carried .45s (.45-70, .45 Win Mag, .45 Colt, .45acp), .44s (.44Mag, .44AMP), .357s (.357mag, .357AMP), and numerous smaller cartriddges, in a wide variety of handguns. Open Carry in the woods, and while hunting, Concealed carry in town (usually with smaller guns).

.500 magnum, not for regular carry but if I was planning on walking in an area where there may be bears and it was legal to carry I have a nice shoulder holster.

Pardon Me

Pardon me for a dumb question and I apoligize for interrupting this thread to ask but I am brand new to reloading. I searched this site to try and figure out how to post a new thread regarding green dot loading for my 45 acp 230 g bullet. May I ask where the button for a new thread is on this site so that I may pose the question with a new thread. Thanks for your patience.

.45 APC would be the largest I would carry. Yet all of my handguns are .357 Magnum revolvers and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

magnum_52 check your messages I sent you a PM.

¿¿ .17HMR ??

If you carried .17HMR for SD, or kept it at home as HD, would it be for the rounds-capacity or because you can control it better? IMHO, I wouldn't own one.
