largest caliber you'd carry

My favorite carry gun for just about anytime is my Glock30 .45acp. medium size gun with alot of size and capacity for the size it is!!!
 
Revolver- .44 Magnum, I might consider .454 Casull if I had a Super Redhawk Alaskan

Semi-Auto- either .45 ACP or 10mm auto depending on whether we're talking about diameter or power.
 
.44 magnum for open carry.
I have 3 choices for concealed carry.
In the order that I usually carry most to least.
1. xd9 subcompact(9mm)
2.4566tsw smith and wesson(.45)
3.ruger gp100(.357 mag)
the xd9 gets the most carried(95%)
 
I wouldn't restrict myself by choosing a maximum caliber that I'd carry.

The largest calibe I own is .452, so that's the biggest I'm likely to carry. Next week? Who knows? I might decide to buy a .475 or .500 Linebaugh, so then that wouild become max for carry.

I see no sense in restricting myself for such things.

for about ten minutes i fantasize how bad@#$ it would be to carry a mares laig in a 44-40 if that didnt make a man wet his pants when its pulled on him there isnt a gun in the world that would help you

Biggest Caliber?

In my mis-spent youth I did carry a four inch .44 Magnum, model 29 S&W. In a pancake holster it fit rather well under most any decent jacket.

In terms of actual bore diameter, I've used a single action Peacemaker replica with a bore diameter of either .452" or .454", I've never been sure.

For any sort of 'walking around' gun, either concealed or open, .44 Magnum is probably the biggest (horsepower) handgun practical. Frankly, if I think I need something bigger, it'll be either a shotgun or rifle.

If that doesn't answer your question, let me know and I'll confuse you further.
