if you ccw a snub nose revolver, how many speed loaders you carry?

I usually carry a 642 or 638 in an IWB holster with one (1) speed strip in a wallet on the belt in front of the holster. When I empty a swing out cylinder revolver the gun ends up in my weak hand and I need to have the reloads in my strong hand. Carrying a strip or speed loader on my weak side would not be optimal.

I have started shooting revolvers in IDPA competitions and use speed loaders there. But I haven't found a way to conceal a speed loader pouch for daily wear, given the kind of clothes I can wear, and so use the speed strip. The little leather wallet that wraps around the belt is flat enough not to show through the sweaters I usually wear (weather permitting), and on those occasions when I have to ditch the sweater and tuck a shirt over the holster, the speed strip wallet is innocuous enough that it doesn't cause comment. I've never seen a speed loader pouch that is even remotely inconspicuous.

90% of the time I don't carry extra. When I feel it might be adventageous I have 3 speed strips in a cellphone case that goes on my belt. I always fumble with speed loaders.
And yes sometimes I carry a second snubby, it just happens to be in my wife's pocket.
And if I'm attacked by 5 weapon weilding thugs all at once with just my 5 shots I'll die, or at least bleed in large quantities. But you know what, so will everyone else on this board regardless of what pistol they are carrying.

I carry 1 extra speed strip, I find it way more convenient than a bulky round speed loader.

I'm not LE, I don't go looking for trouble, if 5 rounds from a snubbie 357 doesn't get me out of trouble or buy enough time to reload or run away...

Most of the time, you won't have time to reload during a gunfight. But, after a gunfight, having more ammo to put in your gun is a comfort.

I like using SKS stripper clips for my .38/.357 revolvers. Holds 10 rounds securely in a slim profile, and you use it like a speed strip. Cheap as well.

none... ever... if for some reason I'd think 6 might not be enough, I'll carry an auto... but as a pretty devote revolver carrier, 5 - 44 Special, or 6 - 45 Colt Gold Dots aught to take care of what ever ails me

I carry two J frames every day; two speed loaders in my right front pocket, two speed strips rubberbanded together in right rear pocket. Primary is loaded with 357 Magnum ammunition. BUG is a 38 Special. ALL RELOADS, both speed loaders & speed strips; carry 38 Special for obvious reasons.

It's your choice.

Reloading: You probably won't need to, but if you do, you really, really need it...

Carrying a snubbie is a trade-off, concealment/convenience vs. firepower. As an armed civilian, it is likely adequate in nearly every reasonable scenario. If you lose surprise and get into a protracted firefight, you're probably boned anyway("que sera sera"...LOL).

The one issue I think might be relevant to carrying a reload for a snubbie is the tendency to lose track of the number of rounds fired in a stressful situation. There are many anecdotes of shooters having fired in self-defense, only to find themselves clicking on an empty cylinder. At that point, it might be nice to have a reload, especially if there are additional threats.

I often carry a snubbie (S&W 342, thank you very much...;)...), usually with a speedloader. However, I leave the speedloader in the car quite a bit, especially in the summer time (less pockets).

In a higher threat environment, I let the pendulum swing and bring the Glock.

I've always used Mauser stripper clips as loading strips.
I removed the spring and ground the little tabs on the side then squeezed the clip lightly in a vice till it was just right to hold .32 S&W Long or .38 Special rims.
These will hold six .32 cartridges or five .38/.357 cartridges.

With a little practice you can load two chambers at a time.

These are much more secure than the plastic strips, and miles more compact than speed loaders.

I carry two modified stripper clips whenever I carry a revolver, even if its a single action .357 with loading gate.

For a number of years (a number of years ago) I daily carried a 2" Model 10, with two speedloaders in my right hand suit coat pocket.

In the fall, I occasionally go walking in the woods in New Hampshire mountains carrying a 3" Model 24. Two speedloaders go along, also in right hand coat pocket.

Taurus 85 and mostly dont carry any reloads. If I feal the need I wear a button down shirt and keep i speedloader in my left shirt pocket. Aprox 100 rouinds in my truck with 2 speed loaders in the console

I wouldn't carry any extra ammo. I would also only fire when I know I'm gonna hit. It's so unlikely more than 5 rounds are needed that to me the extra bulk isn't worth it.

If I carry extra ammo it's in speed strips. Tactical reloads are impossible with speed loaders. Learned that while deer hunting years ago.
