How often do you clean your gun(s)?

Cleaning my handguns after the range is my wind down time. I also clean after firing. This is when I look close at my weapon practice grip and sight alignment (empty weapon of course)

My carry gun ever week or so (blued revolver)

Depends on what you call cleaning. After shooting a patch or two down the bore and an external wipe down. Once a year or whenever I think about it a complete tear down. 22's get cleaned when they quit functioning. A dirty bore in a .22 shoots better than a clean one.

Every time I shoot them. Unless for some reason I shoot less than 100 rounds and I know I'll be shooting that gun again soon.

I don't have a set round count to clean them. I clean them after I go shooting......if I remember, and feel like it. Sometimes they may go a couple months between cleanings if I only put a few rounds thru them. Some guns I don't clean untill they start to malfunction, and it usually consists of scraping the crud away with my pocket knife so I can keep shooting, followed by a real cleaning when I get home.

After every range session or hunting outing(if fired). I clean till no fouling comes out of the barrel. And break it down and clean as far as someone who isn't a gunsmith should. Everytime.

If you read above we were discussing how often we clean our guns and the majority of us said we clean afterwards, no matter how many rounds.

Just read the posts above and you will understand.

One of my pet neuroses :

I KNOW I should clean them after every shooting, and I feel SO guilty when I omit that.
I want clean guns & hate cleaning them because it's absolutely impossible to get them as clean as I want them to be, but I love to shoot and can't without getting them dirty....

Yeah, I know, you don't want to be inside MY head.

By the way : do you know the difference between a psychotic & a neurotic ?
