No dirt here.

If I shoot 'em, I clean 'em.

I actually don't look at it as a chore. I find it quite relaxing. But then, I've always been a mechanically oriented kind of guy. I love taking things apart and putting them back together again.

Because of this, friends often drop off thier guns for me to clean....actually, if they're an interesting gun, they get cleaned twice before they get returned....with a trip to the range for a "function check" in between. Call it my fee.

I may be a slob in many other parts of my life (laundry, dishes, etc), but when it comes to guns I get a little OCD-tastic. I would rather listen to fingernails on chalkboards all day than know that a dirty gun is in my possession. I think the 4th circle of hell is made up of dirty guns that rust before your eyes. That would drive me nuts.

I clean my guns even when they're clean. I love stripping a gun and cleaning it then putting it back together.
If I'm bored I strip it and clean it and my 1911 gets stripped at least once a week and lubed up so it never gets dry :D
When I shoot, even one bullet, it gets cleaned.

Can't say I think much of a "poll" that has no box that applies to me and many thousands of other shooters. Such as "immediately when I get home" or "before I leave the range"--no matter how many rounds I've fired.

You didn't have an option for me so I didn't vote.

I clean every one of my guns even if I only shoot one single round. That doesn't happen often (only shooting one round) but you get the idea. Even if I don't shoot my guns, carry guns get cleaned once every week or two and all the others get cleaned once every few months. I just like to clean my guns.

+1 for that. :)

I didn't vote, because there is no appropriate choice. In my case, that would be:

Any time I shoot the firearm, even if it is only five rounds.

funny story

Yesterday I was chatting with a USPSA Grand Master (he was visiting for some ammo testing) and he admitted that while competing with a high-capacity Caspian 38 Super he never-ever dismantled it for cleaning during the ten years he shot it (didn't know how, so he didn't).

He received a new gun in 9 Major last year, and another this year, and learned how to disassemble those this January.
But not for cleaning...

Works better clean.

I clean mine after every shooting session regardless of number of rounds fired; UNLESS I'm shooting my own .45 hand-rolled with a remarkably clean powder which leaves virtually no residue, then I may go two sessions. Can't stand a dirty gun. No excuse.

it depends on the gun, but I usually clean right after a range visit (I make a day about it, they have become my sanity saveing holidays) which is about ever 200 rounds...

I clean mine as soon as I get home unless I decide to get something to eat first;). But They are always cleaned before they go back into the safe.
