How much 22LR do you have.

I've been buying 22LR when ever I could find it for 10 cents around or less. With out intending to create a big stock pile I have a touch over 10k rounds of 22LR. I think it is time to stop buying.

How much do you have stored up?

2500 rounds. I have never bought the last box on the shelf and I haven't bought any since August.

I'm also a fan of the cheap remington thunderbolts as my rifles like it. If I could trade the $8 a box cci velocitars for 3 boxes of $2.19 thunderbolts I would.

Probably something like 6000 rounds or so. Most of it is subsonic target ammo that has generally not been THAT hard to find (but still not cheap).

I haven't bought any .22LR in going on a year. Honestly, I've not been shooting it much at all- at $0.10/round I can pretty well reload 9mm or .38spl at the same cost. If I'm going to practice, I might as well practice with full power ammo if that's what it's going to cost.

I had some stored up but then the great Wisconsin hurricane of 2012 wiped it all out.;)

I have no intention of paying the still ridiculous price that .22lr is fetching.

After the '08 election madness, once prices returned to normal, I stockpiled plenty, intending to never get caught short again. After the '12 madness, I have yet to see it return to normal, despite reports in different areas of supply returning.

Alas, every time I walk into my local Walmart, I check at the gun counter for 22LR ammo. Since April, I have managed to purchase ~500 rounds. I was told last week that some of the associates were selling the .22LR before it was inventoried, affecting their resupply. Supposedly, the discovery of this caused a shake up and "supply should improve soon." I'm not holding my breath.

Some of the LGSs I've hit are either indefinitely out (as in haven't seen any for months), or are marked up too high. There's always the gougers on GB or the gunshows if it becomes a must-purchase item, but for me, I have no reason to pay exorbitantly high prices.

I typically get to the range roughly twice a month for all the months where the temp is 50 degrees or warmer, so... more than half the year. Before rimfire went stupid, I typically sent 400-500rds down range with each trip.

Now?
I will send around 200-250 down range maybe 1 in 3 trips. To say that I have "cut back" my rimfire shooting would be to suggest that the Pacific Ocean is damp.

My supply shows around 3,500rds and I cannot seem to build it up... at all.

I am waiting patiently.:o

Never enough... I always try to stock enough so that I can keep shooting at my normal rate even when shortages and panics strike. I have a decent amount of match quality .22LR ammo but am running pretty low on plinking ammo.

To be fair, at this point it's not because I can't find ammo to buy. There's a shop a block from my house that has maybe 2,000-3,000 rounds of .22LR on the shelf and probably more in back. I'm just not quite ready to pay 10 cents a round for plinking quality .22LR. It may be that's where things stabilize eventually, but I'm going to watch for awhile longer before I start buying again.

Some here.
Some there.
A few in the center console.
A little in that bag.
A box on the shelf.
A few bricks in that ammo can.
Six dozen boxes in this ammo can.

And a stockpile under the bench...

I can relate to FrankenMauser, a little here and little there. I don't think I'll ever run out..or find it all probably. I haven't bought a round since the scare, just haven't needed to. I could probably scare up 10 or 12 thousand around here if I went looking.

I have about 2100 rds. of .22 ammo and not more than 300 rds. are the same brand . Mostly 200 rds. this brand and 200 rds. that brand because the stores around me will only let you buy 2 boxes at a time and only 1 box larger than 100 rds. . I would say half of mine was bought before I knew the shelves were going to dry up .

I "need" about 2 or 2.5x what I've got, though those quotes should tell you that Mrs. McGee disagrees slightly with my definition of what I need. I check the ammo shelves every time I go to Wal-Mart & check the sale circulars every Sunday. I pick up a box or two whenever I can. Honestly, I've got enough that I can afford to trade a little away, or even give a little away, just so that my friends don't have to pay stupid high prices.

Around 3000 rds mostly Remington gold hp's and CCI hp's . Havn't bought any in months but if I run across a name brand I will pick up a box to shoot and a box to stash . I been doing this since the 1990's for all the calibers I shoot . I never stop buying but don't go out of my way to .

2500 rds bought mostly on the internet. I pay about $5 for shipping so when I do buy I usually buy over 300 pcs.. I haven't seen any for 5 cents since the summer and 8 cents is the norm. But checking Wal-marts has become a lost cause for 22lr but a lot times ill pick up a box or 2 of Tula 7.62x39 for $5.47 so its not entirely bad and still worth checking.

You made me go look - about 1400 rds.
That doesn't sound like much, does it?
There was a time when that wouldn't have been even two months worth.
A typical range day was about three times as much rimfire as center fire.
But since switching to airguns, the rimfires have been collecting dust.
No shortages of muscle, co2 and pellets.

I've give up on .22lr and will stay that way until .22 is reasonably cheaper than 5.56. If I'm paying the same, I'd rather shoot the AR. Bought 1 550 rd brick 6 months ago for $22 at Wal-Mart. Was there for something else and walked in and got lucky. Hasn't happened since.
