Guns that you just don't like.

I dislike what I've come to refer to as "Range Jewelry".

Now, in the past I have bought guns for their "Range Jewelry" value. Full disclosure, I wasn't immune to this in the past.

Desert Eagles, X-Frame S&Ws in .500 caliber, etc. This is Ohio. We don't have polar bears here, so you obviously bought the gun as Range Jewelry. Unless you happen to like $1.50-a-shot ammo and carpal-tunnel syndrome.

Range Jewelry is anything obviously bought not because it fills some sort of niche or utility, but will hopefully draw attention to you at the range.

Derringers are just plain jewelry without the "range" prefix. In all my years of shooting, I only saw a derringer fired at a range once. Want a small gun for carry or the car, get a snub-nosed J frame.

The S&W 22a rimfire pistols. They dropped the 422/622/2206 line of guns for this? Bleah...

CZ-52. Had two, neither worked right. Won't go there again.

The Sigma. Like a Glock, only uglier. I have grown to appreciate Glocks though...

Ruger P-series semi-autos. A company with the stature of Ruger had no business making pistols this ugly and ungainly for as long as it did.

CZ-70. A PPK clone imported a few years back. The things had 15 pound trigger pulls.

Derringers, most any type. And in the interest of full disclosure, I do own a High Standard DM101. Cute, but not worth a darn out past ten feet.

"Wonder Nines" - Glocks, Sigs, S&W Sigma, etc.

Beretta Model 92, 96, etc., and their progeny.

J- and K-framed Smiths in .357 Magnum. Smith came out with an L frame, which was larger, not smaller, to solve the .357 Magnum problems.

Semi-autos with slide-mounted safeties.

Any auto with a light attached to the rail. Like tracers, the flashlight works both ways!

A little off the topic, but - Goncalo Alves and Jerry Miculek grips on N-frame S&W's. If I wanted to hold a telephone pole, I'd call AT&T.

Basically I don't like ugly guns. Yes I know..very subjective. Anyway, in my humble opinion...

-Glocks
-SW Mp series
-Grip design of HKp30 (looks like spidermans gun-guess I am kind of old school)
-1911 s with tactical rail attachments
-a polymer revolver..(very very bad idea:()
-any gun with poor craftsmanship

are ugly so I don't like them..

Other than that,
I don't like (well prefer) guns with slide mounted safeties.
And I don't like guns that don't fit my hand..(This makes two..for Glock:))

All the best.

If you dont like a gun that doesnt go bang every time, then you wont like any of my guns. they all run out of ammo at some point for some reason

(1) Taurus revolvers. (Still not sure one way or another about their autos.)
(2) Any gun with an integral lock.
(3) Black rifles in general. (To be utterly clear here: I do not want to see them banned or restricted, and if you like 'em, go for it. That leaves more stick shifts for me.)
(4) Ruger rifles. (I like their handguns just fine.)

Other than that, I'm more likely to get annoyed with gun companies than with their products. Of course, being annoyed with the company will tend to discourage me from buying its current products. Pet peeves are:

Companies with crappy customer service.
Companies that blow off the civilian market.
Companies that cut slimy deals with anti-gun politicians.

1. Hi-Points (ugly)

2. Buckmarks (uglier)

3. Nambu Pistols (ugliest)

I don't hate any guns... There are a few that I have shot and would not spend my own money on though.

- Hi-Point ( Makes my fugly Glock look pretty :D )
- S&W Sigma ( Trigger pull is NASTY )
- Jennings, Bryco, etc...
- Most guns w/ external locks

I don't like guns that are bulky out of proportion to their power. A whole lot of modern service pistols, even when chambered in 9mm, are wider than a 1911, making the whole package too big.

Hate to say it, but I hate 9mm. Any 9mm. Glocks, Sig, Rugers, you name it, but if it's chambered in 9mm, it does nothing for me. Not that a 9mm isn't a good cartridge, but it just isn't for me.

I just don't like...
The Browning Hi-Power. It's a great gun, but that silly grip shape just does not fit my hand.

Most S&W autos. The only one I like at all is the 39. It's the only one close to fitting my hand and it has historical significance. The rest all have bad triggers and inconvenient controls.

SIG-Sauer autos. The slide is to high above the axis of the forearm and the controls are hideous.

Glocks. Can't really put my finger on it, but I just do not like them. The grips are too dang big in circumference, but even with that, I just do not like them. I think it's a rejection of plastic, mostly.

Colt Trooper revolvers. Bad trigger in double action mode and just ugly.

Colt Python revolvers. Bad double action trigger and rather delicate internal workings. Cool looking. Probably the coolest looking modern revolver made. Can't stand them.

All the crappy, cheap built, frowsy wannabe guns.

Beretta 92. The Brigadier was a really neat pistol with a goofy safety. Beretta double stacked the magazine, added a double action function and changed the safety to a hammer dropper. Four pound gun, quarter ounce bullet. It sucks.

Korth revolvers. All that money and hand fitting and the trigger sucks.

WoW! Perhaps you should tell us what you DO like!

I dont particularly feel a hatred or dislike to any particular gun. However, I was at the range and heard someone say that the only good self defense calibers started with a 4( such as a .40 or a .45). I wanted to ask if he would volunteer to be shot with a .380 acp, 9mm, .38 special, .357mag, or any other caliber that didnt begin with a 4.

WoW! Perhaps you should tell us what you DO like!

If you think that's a big list, be glad my browser crashed while crafting my response. It would've easily been two pages.

And guess what? still plenty of guns I, and he likes.

Add me to the dislikes Glocks club. I don't like how they look. I don't like how they feel in my hand. I don't like their "tinniness". They may be ultrareliable as their fans repeatedly claim, but I just don't care for them.

How can so many people bash "S&W autos" when the S&W model 41 is an auto? I think the average person has a tough time naming a 22 auto that has a major edge over a model 41 for target shooting.

My dislike list because hate is a strong word:

Ruger Super redhawk - ugly, but good quality overall I think

Charter arms pink lady and gold finger - designed by children

Ruger P95 - too industrial looking

Browning BLR - when you're used to seeing winchester levers, the browning just does not look right imo

Taurus 94 - one of the most awful 22 revolvers. Hammer pull, trigger pull simply were awful. Of course, I'm comparing it to a S&W which isn't exactly fair but damn, its not worth the money saved IMO.

25 acp saturday night specials - I dislike the 25 acp and cheap autos - of course I like the Colt vest pocket, junior pocket and the baby browning and the like but just not a fan of the 25 acp in general

Hi points - you know why

Marlin model 60 - perhaps its not bad to most, but how do people choose it over a 10/22 I will never know.

***And the most controversial on the list - ruger double action revolvers esp in magnum calibers - I'm tired of hearing how great they are (I respect them) just because they're cheaper and can handle unsafe hot loads (which are a stupid idea in the first place)
I don't think they look as good as a Smith or colt nor do they have the trigger or resale value, etc. I know they don't suck, and are well made but to me they are not the same and they are not better. The revolver itself I don't have a problem with, its more of the incessant bragging people do. I know of several S&Ws in my family which have digested 1000s of rounds without problems. I personally think S&W gets a bad rap simply because the rugers are more affordable thus more popular in some ways. They're notorious for poor single action triggers compared to the Smith but you rarely hear that, you hear:
"I saved $200 on my 357 purchase by switching to ruger"
"My ruger can fire loads that are not recommend by any manufacturer because its much much stronger"
"My ruger is better because its heavier"
"There is a special place in my reloading manual for ruger only loads" well not in my new Hornady manual theres not.
I only have one modern S&W, the 460 XVR, and I like it but I cant speak for the modern S&W as a whole but as for S&W as a whole, I think they're overall the best when you average every factor. Most people seem to place too much emphasis on price alone. I think more about what I'm getting for my money. I do own a 10/22 and a MK III auto, so its nothing against ruger. I also would like a 22 LR bearcat eventually. No offense meant to anyone.

Any self defense pistol less than .38spl
Glocks, I have a 17 and it STILL feels wrong
I have a Desert Eagle in .357 but weighs WAAAAY too much
Glocks
& Glocks

how can anyone not like the XD's

How can so many people bash "S&W autos" when the S&W model 41 is an auto?

I think they forget about it and just mean S&W's centerfire autos.

I must admit, I'm not a fan of S&W's centerfires. They're reliable and accurate enough, but the triggers suck.
