The very fact that any comparison to Stalin's Russia would pop into your mind says a great deal.

Dont see what it says other than what I said, but hey, reasonable folks can differ

In both cases, there's a camel in the tent. Camels have no place inside tents. Well, maybe those rolled pieces of paper do, but not the other kind.

The fault is with the legislature.
Not really...

Taft is a complete *******.

He's a Republican that I voted for twice BTW - all due to his promised stance on CCW legislation in Ohio - which he promptly went back on just after being elected in 1998.

There's a real caution here for everybody that votes a straight one issue (gun rights) ticket....

YOU might have one issue,,but the SOB you're backing sure as hell as other issues in mind...

If there is more than one person in a social organization, they will have the camel in the tent.

Supply me with one, historically, sociaologiically or anthropologically, that does not

Absolutely agreed, Wild.

And inevitably the Camel get his way. The only question is "When?" And that is dependent upon the vigilance of Philosophically Free Men to keep rapping him on the nose when he aggresses.

Sit back in your easy chair, with a weary sigh of, "It's just the way the world is", and I can pretty much guarantee it IS the way our world will be...sooner rather than later.

No question there. The issue is when and how to rap. Rappin when theres no need makes the serious rap run of the mill...and too many unreuqired raps can piss off the camel

I dont have an easy chair...per SWMBO..."fat husband not need chair just fall asleep and make big nosenoise, you sit on tatami!" I dont sigh either...I spend my time chatting with my US senator and working on stuff that matters.....little steps vis a vis polemics ya know

Papers Please stops from the State that gave us Terry? Now, that certainly wasn't indication of anything to be concerned about. It only gave us Hiibel a few years later.

You're right; better keep my powder dry for a REAL abridgement of liberties.

Showing your ID is not a biggie.

It is, if you are illegal, buying a gun and not having proper id, driving a vehicle and you have no id. Commiting a crime and have no Id.

Over 18 and have not signed up for what at some time in the future might be the draft. Want to buy alcohol and are under age, want to buy cigarettes and are under age. Want to go into a xxx adult show.

If you are legal and have no problems, it is no problem. Kind of like the Bad Boy Bikers who have warrants, they hide in cars and have no id.
I guess it is whose ox is getting gored, they howl the loudest.

Harley, you're either missing the point or you failed your Civics classes in high school.

It IS a big deal to be stopped and shaken down for no reason (and save the "reasonable suspicion" bs for someone who believes it). The whole point of the Fourth Amendment was to ensure against arbitrary harassment by government authorities. You're now saying that this harassment is "not a biggie." I'm sorry, but if Joe Fuzz has a reason to believe that I'm involved in a crime, even as a witness, he can bloody well follow the law (meaning, get a warrant) like the rest of us.

No he can bloody well follow the law and stop you, and arrest you if circumastances warrant.

There is no constituional requirements for "warrants" to arrest in every circumstance

WildhornbookAlaska

Am I to assume you feel Terry stops are unconstituional?
Nope. Just a Mile Marker on the Road to Hiibel and what is happening today in Ohio. The Terry nose under the tent was not a violation; but it seems we let our guard down. I felt the same way about Terry as you do about this Ohio law....I learned my lesson.

Move over on that tatami, WildMan; the .gov Camel wants to watch TV with you. Oh, look...you're the star of the show....its the PBS special with the "public" camera footage, "Surveillance Central". :D

WA, I see we disagree on what "the law" is.

The Constitution is the law. Everything that has been enacted since then, which is in contradiction to it, is illegal.

Tell you what, how about we make a law that everyone who lives in Alaska must wear pink toques, with refusal to comply resulting in immediate arrest. I think you'll agree that would be pretty silly. But, since it's DA LAW, you'd by God better go out and get yourself a pink toque.

Be very very careful slinging around phrases like "the law," because not all laws are good, some are just flat bad, and if you support bad laws, you're not worthy of protection under the good ones. OHPA is NOT a good law; if you think it is, I invite you to hie yourself down to Cincy and fall into line with the rest of the sheeple.

High School what ever gave you the Idea they taught

that in High school.
Most of what you always like to refer to is everyday law, which change's within the court system. Then a ruling and then a new law.

You need to take a few law course's then we can talk. Each state is different and then you have the Feds. Come on, get on board and smell the fire. (flag being burned).

This is one of the reasons why President Bush is so important in the future of the way America will be run for the next 50 years. Courts and the interpretation of your right by judicial persons who are familiar with it, not some High Schooler.

No room on a tatami for me AND a camel (unless its a miniature one)...:D

Do you have a problem with public surveillance cameras btw?

I felt the same way about Terry as you do about this Ohio law....I learned my lesson.

Hmm I dont think Ive expressed how I feel about the Ohio law...have I?:D

The Constitution is the law. Everything that has been enacted since then, which is in contradiction to it, is illegal.

Tell me what the constition says about the Ohio law then that makes it illegal (not stupiod, or annoying, or just:rolleyes: but illegal under your view of the constition.

Don't bait, WA....I'll put you on a forced 4K Cal diet.

There's a place to argue, "It's the law". However, when it becomes a mantra, one needs to ask what you're even doing on a civil liberties board. Your path is already stable....the Legislature and Courts create it and you follow.

I've no problem with that; it's simply not my path.
