Do you still own the first gun you purchased?

The first gun I ever bought was an Auto Ordnance "frame kit" on which to mount the Colt .22 conversion that I inherited from my father. I'm sure I'll have it forever, even though there's no real emotional or other attachment (to the frame), since everyone has to have a .22 rimfire handgun, right?

Of course, a Rem M700 BDL in 30-'06 still my main rifle. I bought the scope the same day (1979, I was 19 years old), a Leopold VX-2 2-7. Both work like they did when they were brand new, after many, many hard miles. The rifle cost $205 and the scope cost $215, at J&G Sales in Prescott, AZ :), shoulda bought a truck load of both but didn't have that much money.
The same month I bought a Colt Govt model, my Son has that one now.

The first gun I purchased was a Colt Woodsman back in 1976. Wish I still had it, it was stolen. My second gun I still have. An old Mossberg 500.

Yes. S&W 66 with a six inch barrel. Sweet, sweet action. My son is preternaturally good with it; he outshoots me regularly. Bought it at the long-defunct Warshall's Sporting Goods at First Avenue and Madison in downtown Seattle. Try finding a gun shop in downtown Seattle today! I think they've chased all the pawn shops out of the tourist areas.

Still have it. Although I was just recently considering selling it to fund a new purchase. Just can't bring myself to do it though. Know I'd regret it.

Yes and no...I have the first long guns I ever shot, Remington Model 58 12 ga. and a Remington 550-1 .22.
They were handed down to me from my father.
My father for some reason disliked handguns and would never allow me to have
one.
As a result I didn't start shooting handguns till I was in my late thirties.
Bought a Beretta Model 86 first but traded it in on a 92fs.I still have it as well as
many others...:D

I still have the first firearm I ever purchased, a 1979 Ruger RST-6, and also the first firearm ever purchased for me, a 1968 Stevens model #34 for my 12th birthday.

No, the first gun I purchased was an $80 Mosin. One month later my gunsmith grandfather surprised me with a Gewehr 98 he sporterized for me. It was a beat up gun when he got it many years ago, and has a WWI pedigree. It has a light laminate stock and a scope; so the Mosin was obsolete almost instantly. I kept it around and occasionally shot it for a few years before selling it to finance a shotgun: a Mossberg 500.

I never shot the Mosin well; but in my defense, the sights were kind of screwed up on it. I basically decided one day that I wanted a rifle of my own and went to the store and bought one. I wish back then I would have grabbed one of those $300 AKs instead; would be worth a lot now!

Bought my first gun last year in July, a new CZ-85B. I have given thought to selling it, but I'm a packrat and it's my first. Not to mention it's a damn good gun. Every collection should probably have a CZ though so I'm not too upset.

I doubt I'll ever sell one of my guns.

The first one I bought I sold. Was a .17 HMR Savage 93r17 , lowest model, It was nothing very special, lightness was the only thing really going for it. If it had shot a half moa better I probably would have kept it. I did keep the 2nd rifle I bought though, a Marlin 917v, where the savage would put them inside an inch, the marlin can put them into a space more than covered by a dime.

The first gun I was ever given and first gun? Still have that one. A Henry .22 lever action. Love it, and it will only part me if giving it to my son or daughter if I have children.

Yes I still have the first gun that I personally purchased. It is a .40 Springfield Armory XD(M). I just purchased it a couple of years ago.

I also still have the first gun that was ever bought for me by my late grandfather, it is a Marlin Model 95SS .22 Not a rare gun by any means but it was the first gun that was ever bought specifically for me and I will always keep it. I have also been handed down many other rifles and shotguns from my father and grandfather and you can bet your bottom dollar those will never be leaving the family.

Yes, I have every gun I ever purchased. The first one was a Revelation single shot 20 gauge I bought at Western Auto In the mid 1960's. Most others were purchased in the 70's and 80s and one in 93. That was the last one until this year when I purchased an XDm 45 compact.

Yes, I do. My well-worn Mossberg 500 manufactured in the 1970's before they went to screw-in chokes, purchased used, for $100, with a cracked stock, while getting a hunting license, and on the way to dove hunt in 1995. It has since been remodeled with plastic furniture and a 18.5" barrel, though the 28" modified choke barrel (no sight bead) is still at hand for non-HD use. It lives beside my alarm clock and is the last thing I check before closing my eyes, when sleeping at home.

The only firearms I have ever bought and later sold are a Bersa Thunder .380 that my sister needed more than me and the ugliest .22 rifle (Rossi copy of Winchester 62 pump in really rough cosmetic condition) I have ever had the displeasure of holding, bought sight unseen from relative and sold to another relative without ever firing and with free ammuntion.

I also still have the first rifle I ever fired, though the dog got the squirrel that first shot killed.

Do you still own the first gun

Sure do, unless you are counting BB guns, if not, the yes, paid a dollar and some change for it, Winchester Model 04, .22 s.l.lr. single shot.

Yes, but I can't recall which one it is. I've had a Ruger MkII and a 10/22 for 30+ years. They were both bought around the same time, just don't remember which one came first. The MkII is all original and still going strong. The 10/22 has been modified quite a bit, but runs just as good as she did new.

Nope I just sold my mossberg 835 combo after owning it for about 3 years. It was a great and useful gun, but I like the handling and shooting of my bps better. And anything my bps can't do my rifles can, so I figured it was time to let the girl go.

Rem model 512 bolt tube fed 22.
Nope I don't it have it. It was stolen from of my parent home.

Would I have liked to still have it?
I guess so. But not having it is no longer a big deal with me either. But I do still remember what my father said upon learning of its disappearance.:

"ill-gotten gains are laidened with pain. He who arrives by. Shall be deprived of other important things."

I'm the third generation to here that quip. My father was told the same around 1910 by his father as I recall. My son is aware of the quip also. Even tho the rifles long gone there's that quip for remembrance. I'll bet the quip is & will be around much longer than the old 22 is or was_;)
