I still have my first gun, given to me by my grandfather (belonged to my father) As for guns I have purchased, I will not sell them, never have-never will. If I got a gun that didn't shoot or had a feature I really didn't like, I would still keep it as a plinker or loaner.
Not the 1st. It was nothing but trouble. I saved money all summer by mowing neighborhood lawns @ $3 each to buy a Savage SXS shotgun in 1974. It malfunctioned on the 1st dove hunt and literally spent more days in various gunsmiths shops over the next 10 years than it did in my home. Never did get it to work right and traded it for a 1911.
The next Fall I saved enough to buy a 700 ADL in 30-06. I paid $250 OTD for the rifle, scope, mounts, sling and 2 boxes of ammo. I do still have it, and it was my primary hunting rifle up until about 5 years ago.
Yes I do. A Ruger M77 .243 with tang safety. Purchased it in 1998 from a co-worker for $450.00. Still in mint condition A number of offers have been made for it but I've refused them all.
Yes. The first gun I bought is a J.C. Higgins model 20 12 gauge pump gun. I bought it from my Grandpa. He used it as one of his shooting match guns. I also shot my first rabbit with it.
Of course; I have the Remington 572 I bought when I was 12 or 13 as an upgrade to the Winchester 67 (which I also have) that my grandfather used to teach me to shoot.
No, Llama .380 Micromax. Thing looked cool (mini 1911) but was kind of a piece. The slide cracked so I traded it to a guy who knew a smith. I don't really miss it. I have not purchased any more Llama pistols.
My first was a .22 semi-auto pistol which sits in the back of the safe now. I prefer shooting .22 out of revolvers or rifles. Couldn't bring myself to sell it though. I'll pass it on to the son who learned to shoot with it.
Guns 2 and 3 are both long gone and good riddance to both. Neither was bad in any way just turned out not to be my cup of tea. I've gotten better at buying things I end up liking. I've only sold one gun since then and it was a duplicate.
My first gun bought with my own money was a Remington 870. 30 inch with a rib barrel. I was 13 years old. I sold it to my best friend when I was 18 so I could get married. I needed the extra cash more than the gun at the time. He was killed in a car accident and I thought the gun was gone forever just like my friend. My friends mother called me several years later and asked me if I wanted the gun back. I took the hundred dollars to her but she would not take my money but I came away with the gun. The gun will never leave my possession again. I will some day give it to my only Grandson. I am still married to the same gal so me having the gun and her was meant to be. It will be 36 years in June . Thanks for bringing up good memories of a common 870 that means so much to me.
No. It was a Savage bolt action .22 about forty years ago. I believe it was traded for a Pontiac intake manifold. Before I started hoarding firearms, I traded and sold my guns quite a bit. I think the gun I've possessed the longest is a inexpensive Raven .25, buried in one of my safes. That one I've had about twenty five years or so.
Alas, no,
High Standard Citation, taken in a burglary in 1985.
Not my first gun, but the first one I bought.
Finally replaced it with one almost identical: A Hamden pistol, from a pawn shop this year.

Not the first. It was a used Iver Johnson .22 revolver. Horribly out of time. I had it for 10 days. I immediately replaced it with a new Ruger Standard Model .22 (precursor to the MKII and MKIII). $49.95 NIB. That was 1973.
Yep, sure do. First gun was a Marlin 882S 22 Magnum rifle. Not only do I still have it, it's still my favorite. Love that gun. My first pistol was a S&W 22A ... I still have that one too. Thousands of rounds and still runs great. What a great work horse for a great price.
