Do you guys still like your Walther P99 ??

I can't answer that. I'm sorry. I have always used Hydra-Shok
124gr in mine with no ill effects, but I don't think this is rated at +P.

It should be able to handle it as a carry ammo, but I wouldn't feed it a steady diet of the stuff. The proof loads that the Ulm haus uses are way up there on pressure and they survive the test OK. That's only a couple of rounds though.

Earl probably knows the answer to this. 978.851.2656

My friend ordered them shortly after he bought the pistol!!! When I aquired it, the mags came with it!! Hence, a P99 delivered the way it was ment to be!!!:D

i have had my p-99 in 9mm for over a year, i've prob shot about a paltry 5500 to 6000 rounds through it in that time, have never had a problem with it. mine came with a card that was written in 4 languages stating the following:

"Caution!

your firearm has been designed for ammunition of specific type and caliber. Use only ammuntion in conformance to the provisions of C.I.P or SAAMI and corresponding to the caliber of the pistol. The correct caliber is specified on the pistol. Particularly when using reloaded ammunition the permitted gas pressure according to C.I.P or SAAMI must not be exceeded. Excessive pressure can damage or even blow up any firearm. Ammunition with velocities and pressures higher than those for which the firearm was designed will subject the firearm to additional stress, may cause excessive wear, and may cause serious damage to your gun." <there was more but was unnecessary to make the point i am trying to make>

as we all know, there are numerous types of 9mm ammo <9X19, 9X21, 9mm NATO, 9mm Luger, 9mm Parabellum>, i think that the rather than condeming the firearm because it's not firing the ammo you have, maybe you need to check the ammo you're using.

As my first post on The Firing Line, what better to post about than the P99!

I like the P99 so much that I now have 4 of them. All are in .40 but all are different. I've got a regular, QPQ, Military and a QA. The Military is my favorite, but I've been using the QA for carry and IDPA now.

P99,

Welcome to the Wonderful World of Walthers. Isn't that what the www.com is for?:D

I got my first Walther a few months ago, P99 in .40..............loved it! Just got my second one last week P99 in 9mm. I'm already trembling and need another fix. Can't decide if I want a P5c, or P88c next. Both have their pluses. I think their are easily in the top three firearms. JMHO!

I think there should be a Walther chat room for the addicts to stand up and confess their addictions.

Big Iron,

Thanks for the welcome. I've been collecting Walther's for almost 10 years now. Some of you may know me as Devin on Shooter's. Herr Walther told me to come over here and try this board out. He said it was a lot better than Shooter's. So far I'd have to agree!

My collection of Walther's includes:
1939 PP .380 with bottom mag release
1966 PP .32
1969 P.38 in near mint condition
P88
P99 .40
P99 QPQ .40
P99 Military .40
P99QA .40

I've been looking for a really nice PPK (German of course) but most are asking way too much for them.

vyper005,

Thanks for the welcome. I really like this board so far and will probably stick around for a while.

My favorite Walther is probably the P88. Even though I hardly ever shoot it. In fact I don't think I've shot it in a year and a half. My second favorite is the P99 Military or the PPK.

I've been using my P99QA a lot lately for both carry and IDPA.

Hi Devin. I got your second E-mail, but I haven't had time to reply.
I'm at work now. I'll see if I can send an e-mail tomorrow.

Welcome to TFL!

Adept, he was asking about +P ammo in the P5, not the P99.

Hey P99, with all those "toys", I'm gonna ask my mommie if I can come over to your house and play.:p

Nice collection, I hope this envy green goes away by morning.

BIg Iron,

If you lived closer, I'm sure my mommy would let me come out and play and bring my toys with me. :)

Michael,

Sorry that your at work. I had to go in for a while also today. Although I did sneak away to go to the gun show for a while. I didn't find any new toys however. :(

herr walther, my posting was in response to the many about postings about how the p-99 has a FTF, or jams, etc.

p99, welcome aboard.

Wouldnt it be nice...

If we could make some sort of quick connect for that damn tight backstrap pin...I'm sure we can think of something...

Quick Connect

I have used double sided masking tape, but it was too thick. I have used rubber cement on the handle and have balled it off by rolling it with my finger when I was through. It works.

Johnny Rad,

It's hard to say what Walther is going to do. I've also heard that a .45 version of the P99 will be out later this year to the early part of next year. That being said, they are always on the mysterious side. Sometimes you'll hear that they are developing something and then all of a sudden they say no way or they introduce something else. The P22 is a good example. I was hearing about a compact P99 2 years ago and then the P22 shows up at the last SHOT SHOW.

I kind of think Walther may be trying to become a mass producer like Glock. The reason why I think this is because they have really started to diversify in bringing out their own line of Knives, clothing, shooting glasses and binoculars. These other products are a great way to earn extra money, but they also get your companies name out there and help to sell your main product, in which this case would be guns.

I would have to say that I would be surprised if Walther does NOT come out with a compact version of the P99. They would be foolish not to. And a .45 would also be a winner for them.

Do I like my P99??? YUPPERS!!!! I took my new one to the range yesterday, along with the new P5, which I had never shot before. I got "good" combat accuracy with the P5, but the P99... Mien Gott und Himmel!!!!!! I had forgotten what this gun could do!!! How could I have been so stupid as to get rid of my first one!!! I am on a friends computer. He doesn't have a scanner, but as soon as I get home, I'll post the target.

Hube: You're welcome. :) I also got another IWB like the one you have. ;) Incidently, the store has 16rd mags in stock...for $150!!!!! I passed on the deal.

P99 / Devin - What details do you recall on the P99 Compact? IIRC, the P88c is not too much smaller than the full size P88 ... is it possible the P99 Compact has been confused with the P22?!

Also - what CCW holsters have you found work best for you?

Many Thanks
