Chuck Conners must hate Mossberg

I have seen threads way more interesting than this get closed before it gets past page one, usually a reference to a dead horse is the reason, if that's the case then this horse has been beat beyond recognition, in fact I bet you would need a DNA sample to even tell it was a horse......lol IMO

I think making it accept AR stocks is a great idea. The front rails maybe not.
Lets compare the age of those who like it to those who don't. I bet they sell a ton.

That is flat stupid. You'd think they would come out with Lever guns in 357 mag and 44 mag rather that this abortion.

Do you know what is most puzzling about this rifle?

Any rifle mentioned; no matter how weird, rare, ugly, hated or otherwise ........has a group of supporters that speak up and state that they own or have owned whatever rifle is the topic of scrutiny. Very puzzling indeed.

I hope they keep this thread going, its been easy on mini owners lately.

Its different, but I can see how it would be usefull, I wouldnt want to hang all that nerdy stuff off of it like you see on the AR Rifles, But I think Maby a Scope and sling would be good.

If I remember correctly, The Rifleman's Winchester had been "modified" with a large loop so that he could spin the rifle to cock it. The kids loved it but the old timers thought it was stupid. I think Chuck Conners would appreciate the modernization of this old work horse.

I can certainly see the practicality of it. I can also see the hideousness of it. Not every gun has to be beautiful though. If I had a reason to hang a light off one side of a levergun, a laser on the other and stick a bipod underneath I'd sure as poop buy something like this before I started looking for ways to ruin a nice old Marlin or Winchester by plastering it with rails.

The Chainsaw just plain looks like a waste to me, but that Stoeger side by side could have some practical application. A light and a reflex sight on a short coach gun would make for a very comforting home defense rig.

Well I like it, but I'm the guy who wants a pistol grip for his Marlin 1895 45-70 so my opinion doesn't count for much around here :p

Three things here... 1) THAT is what that gun is missing: the lever loop!

and 2) true, Conners' gun was tricked out and he might approve of this new one except for it NOT being a Winchester

finally 3) Conners' opinion is not really the issue... it just made for a more fun thread title. Growing up, us kids lived for the opening sequence of that show (and the Lone Ranger). So, I was just having some fun at Mossy's expense. That gun might be somehow practical but it sho be ugly.

That gun might be somehow practical

Practical, my fuzzy butt..... It's got rails everywhere except where one might be useful for something other than tearing up the shooters support hand and/or snagging on everything ......

One of the finest qualities of a 30/30 lever gun is the clean lines making for fast easy handling. This just jacks that all up.

The thing is that if we had no preconceived notion of what a lever-action rifle looked like then this rifle would just be new and cool to us

New =/= Cool. I make a new **** evey day. They are not cool. Have not kept a one of 'em.

When I first saw that ridiculous thing a while back, I worked real hard at seeing that there were a few practical points to it, and was willing to take them seriously.

Then I saw the .17 rimfire bolt action rifle with the barret style muzzle brake, and mossberg just fell straight into the compost pile in my mind.

Don't pander to the stupid people because you lose the respect of the smart ones.

Im walking around the pro shop waiting on a rifle range to open up. Plenty of beautiful mosins and m1 carbines to make me want to shell out some dough. I just looked up and there is a chainsaw hanging from the ceiling for $440. What a joke.

I'll take that bet. The average age of the three or four who like it is probably 22 and I don't blame them that they don't know any better, I didn't know much at that age either. Next let's compare incomes and ability to purchase. Equals not many sales.

^^Most theories based purely on blind assumption are "a little off." I figure the people who like it will buy it if they can afford to, and those who don't like it will not buy it. I will not be buying one, but I won't ridicule someone else who does... their purchases and their tastes are really none of my business.

I imagine that the people who would guy this gun are the same ones that have already bought an AR15 Zombiepocolypse gun and tricked out shotgun and just GOT TO have another zombie gun... but I'm guessing.

I'm wondering if such a rig has ANY advantage for the deer hunter over a standard Marlin. With its lack of scope mount rails, I'm going to say, "not really".
