I didn't find it offensive at all, sorry if you thought I did, sometimes my humor is alittle dry.

BTW I want to think you for your sevice to our great Nation.

I've mentioned before...

...little guns with big booms fascinate me to no end: big-bore snubbies, my G29, G30 and G33, "Tanker" Garands and Enfields, "Trapper"-length leverguns, short-barreled side-by-sides.

I own a normal old AK and a plain-vanilla P7M8, so it's not an obsession or anything... :D

the ultimate

tamara - if you really like "little gun with big boom" you have to try to locate the semerling LM-4. it is strange but very practical, unlike the COP or 45-70 derringer.

this is a .45acp, 5rd clip-fed, pump action, striker fired, pocket pistol. the strange part is that the slide pumps forward from a fixed breachface. got a chance to fire one once and the recoil was quite acceptable; but i was only a poor student then...

just out of curiousity, what part of any P7 is "plain vanilla ?"

Laz...a followup!

My FFL, after calling three times, finally talked to someone about the two 720s they supposedly had. The woman hadn't a clue what he wanted to buy for me. :(

Further, she couldn't understand how anyone had the idea that they had such firearms...they "aren't even on the 'net."

But [!], good news anyway...

I negotiated to buy one of the local 720s, although it's not the model I wanted...it's the version I had before, with flutes, fixed sights and DAO.

All in all, though, second choice is better than none. ;)

Next time you're in their shop, find out what the heck is going on...OK?

And again...thanks for your effort; it wasn't your fault that it didn't work out.

Best ... Zander

Zander,

Sorry that didn't work out for you. I'm not sure who you talked to but I suspect it was the owner's wife who has not been working in the store much lately and probably wasn't really up on what they had...that's just a guess. If she just checked the computer, naturally they wouldn't show up from any distributor as I'm sure they're pretty dried up. Usually you would get one of two or three guys who are there all the time. I was just there yesterday and asked Ron if anyone had called on one and he and another guy said no. There was still one sitting in the case although I have to admit that I told you a bit wrong. The one in the case has an unfluted cylinder, so it's a bit older although new. I remembered it as being fluted and I was wrong. Don't know about the one or two he has put away in the back if they are fluted or unfluted. Anyway, glad you found one. If you would still want one with adjustable sights and standard hammer, etc. you would have to tell your FFL to talk to Charles, Dick or Ron, the owner. Anyway, best of luck to you.

My favorite big bore snubnose is a S&W Model 629 .44 Magnum with a three inch barrel. The first time I fired it was amazing, great balls of fire! I was shooting at a man sized target at 10 yards. When I started to check the target, a friend I was shooting with said:

"Don't bother, Hard Ball. It doesn't matter if you hit him or not. You blinded him, deafened him, and set him on fire!"

Thanks, Laz...

That'll be the plan; go straight to Ron next time.

Maybe after the first of the year...

...Happy Holidays!

Big Bore Snubbies

I bow to the tougher shooters! My model 29, with 4 inch barrel, Tears HELL out of the web of my hand by 25 rounds of factory ammo! I've tried "Skeeter Skelton" grips, factory grips, Hogue grips......all leave my hand bleeding. My 29, with a six inch barrel, is fun to shoot but that 4 inch gun is wicked! And I'll shoot a 686 or 19 (4 inch barrel) all day long with max .357 mag. loads! My max .44 Mag. load, for the 4 inch gun, is 7.5 gr. of Unique behind a 250 gr. Keith bullet.

I'm looking for a Taurus m431 44spl. in a round butt configuration, tthey only made them for a couple of years. I have one that has a square butt. Thanks for any and all help.

Taurus 441

I have one of these in 3" and after a trigger job it is one sweet shooting revolver. I rank its quality up with a S&W. Regards, Richard

I also own a Rossi M720 DA/SA. It makes an excellent night stand gun loaded with 200 gr gold dots. I do carry it on occasion, but I don't have a real good holster for it. Anyone know where to get a good holster?

Doug 29,

Try a shooting glove. I've got one by PAST with a padded palm and web. It's made a huge difference in how long and how well I can shoot my .44 Mags.

My 696 3" lives in a Galco SIL104, good retention and smooth draw. The HKS CA44 speedloaders feed it well. Presentation/Compac grips make it point like my other carry guns and no pain with "carbine" load.

Sam...bang is cool, BANG is way kwel.

Glockten,

Not only that, if you make sure to buy one that is TIGHT it helps immensely with arthritic hands. Ask me, I know all too well. (Made the mistake of shooting a M29 with full loads one afternoon when the temp was about 35 degrees!)

Late to the party

All these posts are 6 years old, but I have a "new" Rossi 720, 3", 5 shot, fluted cylinder, target sights (durn good ones too!), factory rubber grip.

I'm having a heck of a time figuring out what to use for a holster. Several recommenders have said any K-frame should work, but I don't think so, they stick up too far and the trigger seems like it coult have something snag it. I wonder how this compares to a 696 for size? Anyone have both, can tell me?

It's not like the 696 has holster makers busy either, but at least some of them list it. The Rossi is in NOBODY's list.

I got a decent fit in an Uncle Mike's 3" small/medium revolver IWB by cutting the end open, allowing the barrel to poke out approximately flush with the end. Then the rest of the revolver fits well. However the plastic belt clip is in the wrong spot for a comfortable wear.
