Big-Bore Snubbies: Who's a fan?

For me 3", maybe 2 1/2", is the line.

Not sure if technically a snub is under 3", or 3" and under.

3" is kind of like Mama Bear's stuff, not too big, not too small, but just right (depending on its use).

I sure am a fan of super snubs.

The one below and right is my 625 3 inch .45 ACP.

Sadly I sold my 'backpacker' S&W 629-2 .44 mag years ago.

But I'd sure like to find one of those 3 inch stainless .45 long colts S&W made years ago (but it might break the bank!)

Deaf, if only there was a pic of your fine guns.....

Whose favorite 3-inch N Frame is the 624. That tapered barrel makes all the difference in balance.

Bart,

I THOUGHT I did have a cool set till I saw this guy, maybe on the S&W Forum, who has something like 15 M66/M19 2 1/2 Combat Magnums, and about the same number of N frames. He showed a photo with them!

He was really really a S&W fan!

My humble stash has been built up over 30+ years. Some, like my M66-1 snub (pinned barrel and recessed chambers) goes way back with me. Even my first carry snub, the S&W 640 .38 I have, goes back to when CHL here in Texas first started.

Sad to say, finding a decently priced S&W of 1950-1990 vintage is getting hard. Saw a S&W 58, fixed sighted .41 magnum, 4 inch, with the bluing on 1/2 of the cylinder gone due to some kind of acid (no pits but brown/gray not blue) and he wanted $1000! Yea ridiculous!

I wish I was a better photographer and could write snappy gun articles like good old Stephen Camp. Sure do miss him!

What determines a snub should be a ratio based on full size barrel length, or common variations thereof. That allows me to include, once again, this here.

Cimarron Thunderer 3.5" in the flavor of .45 Colt.
