Best out of the box?

15 ya say. let me hit you from another direction. Are there any 4H 22 shooting goimg on? I would see if you could not find a Jr. program and do this for awhile while you save up your $200.00. ;)

There is nothing wrong with doing what you are doing but the reason I recommend finding a Jr. program is this. You could do what you want to do, but I think it would make things so much better if you had some coaching along the way. Shooting 22 does every thing for shooting High Power. You will know how to get into a proper prone position, trigger control, breathing for example which will help you in your target shooting. Just a thought. Good Luck

Well, I haven't searched around much, but out in the middle of nowhere, the closest one is probly a decent drive. Plus there's the busy schedule but I do own a few .22s. I bought a .22 WMR a little while back and I shoot it alot. It's about a 2 MOA which isn't great, but hey it's a .22! And I've never shot it from a bench. I have tried to learn those things from the Internet, mostly YouTube, and I know it's not a coach but it does help and it's free. I believe I have a fairly good position and I think I hold pretty still. I'm not one of those kids that think they know everything from video games hahah! Thanks alot for the advice and I appriciate the well wishing, same for you!

There's bunch of apps for ballistic calculators. You'd be wasting more money walking the shots to correct elevation. If u want fancy get a kestrel 4500 with integrated Atrag ballistics calculator or Zeiss Hensoldt SAM scope, otherwise they're free or just couple dollars as apps

I had a TIKKA that was a real shooter out of the box also, my Savage 10fp is also a tack driver especially with hand loads. :)

I have one of the Savage precision carbines in .223 and it was a tackdriver out of the box. It came with the Choate Ultimate Varmint stock. Last time out five shots at 100yds that a dime could easily cover. My Remington 700 .308 was under 1" out of the box with my handloads, but I had to add a B&C medalist stock and lap the lugs to get it to shoot as well as the Savage. My favorite rifle is an older 700 in .222 that I picked up last year lightly used. Since I picked it up I've fired it three times in the field; three dead varmints. I bedded the action and tuned the trigger sweet. I think with either Remington or Savage you will be pleased, but keep your eyes open for a good slightly used rifle and you could have a great rifle and save a few bucks too.

Oh ya, that's nasty dude, you must've been same holing for like all those! Those choate stocks are totally legit but I couldn't afford one!
Doeop: 243 cartridge? A great round, but I would like somethin a bit bigger

I recently got a Tikka T3 in .30-06 and she's a smooth shooting gun.

I know it is a little bit more then a few hundred, but you get what you pay for in this case... ;)
As for being accurate...
I can't really say, as the gun is MUCH more capable then I am

Lateck,

OK Cowboy: ha good to know I'm not the only youngster here! But while the Mosin Nagant is a fine rifle, proven in battle for years, I'm looking for something a bit more modernized. Is the ammo easy to find? Do places like wal mart carry it?
Lateck: I've heard great things about tikka, just out of my price range! Keep practicing and you'll be great! Good hunting, men.
