BedSide Firearm

Whatever rides on my hip during the day sits on the nightstand at night. Since this Spring, that's been my Kahr P45.

A 12-gauge M-870 sits about 1.5 steps away.

2cooltoolz no lock on night stand door ? Just looks like your making things more difficult than it has to be if you have the need for your gun in the dark of the night.
Kids. I kept the S&W for years in the drawer of that cabinet, unlocked. It's a pushbutton safe, and I practice accessing it a lot, eyes closed. I confess, the shotgun is not locked, but it's concealed on the high shelf in the closet. If that safe doesn't pop in about 5 seconds, the 12 gauge is about 6 steps away.

Smith and Wesson Sigma 9mm. 16+1, 147 grain HP's, glow in the dark sights, surefire G2 and a Buck Strider. (different knife shown)

It's either a 1911, or a Glock. But, not in a nightstand. Most of the time I'm wearing it! If I'm not wearing it, It's always within reach, but out of reach from my kids.

We have a split floor plan in our house, meaning the kids bedrooms are on the other side of the house from where the master bedroom is. I'm sure that when they are older, it will be nice for everybody as far as privacy and space issues are concerned. But because my boys are still so little, ( 3, 7, and 9 ), having them that far away from me when they are sleeping makes me uncomfortable.

So, most of the time I just end up crashing on the couch. That way, I'm about the same distance between where my wife and my kids are. Anyone coming in would have to go through me to get to them. I like that better. I also always sleep with my clothes on...... I know, I'm crazy. :D

Usually my carry piece a CZ-75D PCR and an HK P7 in the nightstand.

I may switch the bedside gun to my HK USP Tactical as it sports a flash suppressor. Hard to argue with 12+1 of .45 ACP.

Bedside gun?

:) My bedside gun is a Glock 21 with Streamlight tactical light and loaded with Federal Hydra-Shoks (230 gr.)

Backing that up with a Rem. 870 with #4 buckshot.

Just my $0.02

Mine is a revolver for a few reasons.

#1 - Inherent reliability.
#2 - I am a hard-core revolver guy.
#3 - My wife won't shoot an auto.
#4 - I still feel that .357 magnum is king.
#5 - Mag spring fatigue.

Please guys, don't beat me up for #4. Just my opinion. As for #2, I have been warming up to autos lately (I guess cause I have most of the revolvers I ever wanted). I love the 40 S&W, and the good ol 9MM, but the GP100 will stay in the nightstand, along with 2 speed loads.

A Glock 20(loaded with 180g. Hydra-Shok) with a lasermax installed. Plenty of stopping power, although if I ever have to use it in a hurry inside my house I'll probably be deaf for a week at least!;)

On my nightstand I keep a 41. Ruger Mag. It's very Loud and Kills them D.E.A.D., should that ever become a necessity...

i usually have 2 handguns and a shotgun within arms reach in my bedroom. i always have my amt 380 on the dresser as that is the 1 gun that goes everywhere with me everyday all the time. the other handgun currently is my taurus pt145, i alternate this with either my springfield micro or champion. when the occasion calls for a larger caliber i rely on 1 of these 2 springfields or the taurus 45. the shotgun currently is a 12 ga tristar viper semi auto. i have total confidence in all of these firearms. oh, and my first line of defense are my 2 very large, very protective airedales :)

I am a revolver guy too. I feel its the simplest and most reliable to use for self or home defense. My number one bedside revolver is a Smith and Wesson model 10 loaded with the FBI rounds. I also agree that the 357 magnum is still the most effective round for self defense. With that said I also have a Smith and Wesson 686 as my second bedside revolver to go along with the model 10. And yes it is loaded with the number one hand gun round in the business.

roaddog;)

I keep a boomarang on the bedside table. If a bad guy comes in, I can throw it at him and it will knock him out of the action and then come back to me so I don't even need to get out of bed.

I usually have my XD9 and my wife has a S&W combat masterpiece. Mine has Winchester PDX1 124gr for now until I can get some Federal HST's. My wife's has 357 magnum 125gr golden saber's. My dog is armed with 2 K-9's and no sense of humor.

Bedside companions

Hi-cap (14+1 rounds) 1911 loaded with hardball, in condition 1. Tritium night sights show me how it's oriented even in complete darkness, so I always know how to pick it up. Plus small, very territorial dog at the foot of the bed to sound the alarm well before an intruder can reach the bedroom.
