BedSide Firearm

Sleep at night with whatever gun I carried that day under my pillow. Tonight it will be a S&W J frame loaded with 125gr JHP .357 magnum. A couple of 12 gauge shotguns and flashlights are not far away.

Bone stock S&W Model 65 3" revolver for me. Wife likes it also. She hates semis with all the "little levers and stuff":)

Flavor of the day usually goes from belt to bedside. Most often it's the Taurus M605, sometimes it's the Blackhawk .44 special, even the Buckmark .22 still gets a turn now and then.

Almost always a DA revolver (currently my S&W 629) for a variety of reasons. First, there are no safeties to worry about nor any mag releases to inadvertently be hit while I'm reaching for it in the dark having just woke up. Secondly, the trigger is sufficiently long and heavy to provide an extra safety margin should my gunhadling skills be somewhat lacking in a 3 a.m. half-asleep daze. Third, I don't have to worry about malfunctions due to an improper grip or being pushed out of battery should an attacker get closer than he normally would while I slept. Finally, I just prefer revolvers anyway. I also have a 12ga pump-action shotgun, .223 semi-automatic rifle, and a flashlight nearby.

S&W model 10

Paid $200 for it, so if it is stolen no great loss.

Not a looker, but very dependable.

Also a flashlight.

Not in or on a nightstand but in a combination safe 2 steps away in a closet. I can get up out of bed, stride to the safe, punch in the combination on the keypad and have a handgun out in less than 5 seconds. What do I have in the safe? For me my 9mm Stoeger Cougar and my wife has a 38spl Taurus snubby. My Cougar has 10 in the magazine with the chamber empty and safety on. The revolver of course is load and just needs to be taken out, point and shoot.

Railed Springfield Loaded with TLR-1

Wife's side is a railed Smith & Wesson 1911, also with a TLR-1, but I don't have a pic of that one on this computer.

5" Springer XD .40 tactical w/ TLR-1 and Tru-glo TFO's. 1 mag of 12 Golden Sabres, a set of Peerless 'cuffs and a cordless phone to report the damage or call in the cavalry.

2cooltoolz no lock on night stand door ? Just looks like your making things more difficult than it has to be if you have the need for your gun in the dark of the night. ;)

SIG P220. Why? Because it's a SIG and it's also very fool proof when loaded and the hammer dropped (I don't want an AD under my pillow).

Springer Loaded 1911, full of 165gr +p Pow'RBalls, spare mag, Surefire 9P, 4-inch fixed blade knife and cell phone ... I always prefer .45 for SD, tho I only carry a 1911 when it's cool enough to wear a cover shirt or jacket ... my wife's not much of a gunner, but she has shot the gun and knows how it works ...

Ruger GP100 here, loaded with .357 Magnum JHP.

I like knowing all I have to do is aim and squeeze the trigger without fear of a jam.

Ruger LCR in the night stand at night, and my pocket during the day. I allso keep a mossberg 500 20" barrel with a tac star side saddle loaded wih buckshot.

A Remington Rand Model 1911A1, cocked and locked;) and with a 2 year old boy and 2 day old little girl. It goes from the night stand to a high shelve in our walk in closet when I'm gone.:)

My bedside firearm is a Glock 17 with night sights and some high performance defensive ammo

Why? Because:
1. It's the most reliable gun I've ever owned or fired.
2. it has night sights (came that way)
3. It holds 20 rounds - +2 mag extension.
4. It doesn't rust, need much maintenance and doesn't mind getting banged around.
5. I've got more rounds through that gun than all my others combined - I am very comfortable with it.
6. It's not going to make me deaf if I fire it 20 times in rappid succession.
7. It's black on black and won't reflect light to give away my position.
8. It's so ugly that if I ever have to use it and the Cops take it away from me, I won't cry.
9. I can lock it in a minivault and access it quickly and easily
10. Its much easier to manover around my house, answer doors, check the outside with than a shotgun or rifle.
11. Wife knows how to use it if necessary - it just ain't that hard to make a Glock go bang.

The same gun I carry all day. Sig P220, P229, etc., sit's on the night stand next to me.

However, 2 steps away, once I get out of bed and stand up, is an 870, and in 3 steps there's a P226 loaded with DPX in 20 rd. mag. in an Uncle Mike's holster secured to the rear of a dresser with just enough room between the wall and the dresser to easily reach it. Hanging on the side of the dresser it a set of older Pelitier electronic hearing muffs that can hear a mouse burp at 15 yds.--or footsteps sneaking down the hall.

Both P226 and 870 are next to bathroom door from which I can guard the entrance to my bedroom.

No lights on pistols (so far), but 870 is SureFire equipped, plus 9p SureFire on the dresser near the muffs.
