BedSide Firearm

A G22 .40 cal is all the gun you need. Shoots every time the trigger is dropped. Coupled with hi performance hollowpoint ammo and Surefires' G20 Nitolon 6v flashlight you'll get that warm and fuzzy feeling when it's time to go nite-nite.

Same pistol for HD/daily carry, Springfield G.I. Micro Compact .45 ACP. Gets pulled from the holster and stuck between matress and box spring. Also have a 20 gauge pump, .357 Mag revolver, 9mm Hi-Power, and my other .45 with full mags/cylinders in the safe........they're no good if they are empty.

A S&W model 36, with 3" barrel and CT laser grips, loaded with Buffalo Bore SWCHP. It is a "Ladysmith" model (I am looking for any way to encourage my wife to learn how to shoot), and was the first J-frame round butt 3" model to turn up during my search.

I have a revolver next to the bed. I have that because it's all I own today. Wish I never sold my Hardballer! I was much better with it.

I have a Glock 22 in a hideaway access spot in my nightstand but typically I would first go to the winchester 1300 under the bed.

Amendment to the above...

Anyone foolish enough to force entry to my home would have to get past two 70 lbs pit bulls before i had a threat to me. One is a scaredy cat but the other more than makes up for it.:D

Sig P226 with a Sig STL 900L Light/Laser. It's a large-framed gun for a nightstand, but I'm fortunate in that the layout of my house and the security system would give me adequate warning of an intruder. At that point accuracy and reliability become the paramount issues, and there's no better weapon for that than the P226. If reaction time is of critical importance, I'd probably keep my XD Subcompact on the nightstand with one in the pipe. The double safety (trigger and grip) obviate the need for fumbling with a manual safety or relying on a DA first round. It's as reliable a gun as you'll find and more accurate than all subs and most most medium frames I've fired.
