642 Club @ TFL

UH-1D Rotorhead,

How many here own a S&W Model 642? Chime in...any and all J frame owners are welcome.

Which is it? 642's or J-frames? (I don't own a 642, but I do have seven assorted J-frames.)

Now, all you need is a Glock GAP

You couldn't give me one of those if it had five one hundred dollar bills rolled up and stuffed down the barrel.

Don't Shoot Its Me: That is a very nice looking hard chrome job on your 442. If you don't mind, who did it and what was the tariff?? Thanks.

Thnak you

I had it done about 4 years ago and at that time it was around 125....they have gotten very popular in the past few years and I assume their prices reflect it..very few shops hard chrome over aluminum since you have to put a nickel substrate under it and I guess not all of of them are equipped for it...

M&p 340 Ct!

I personally find the M&P 340 CT to be much "cooler" looking. It's also chambered to handle a .357 round in the event that you're brave enough to try it =)

Unforunately, it's pretty pricey...

UH1, I like your taste in guns :)

For summer carry:
I carry a 442-1 in a Don Hume IWB (strong side) and a 642-1 in a homemade pocket holster (weak side). Also have another 642-1 in "deep storage" for a spare. Use Speer 135 gr. +P for carry and my own reloads for practice.

Consider the 642/442 to be the best small carry gun there is.

642 sweeter than PM9

I tried using a Kahr PM9 for summertime carry in a DeSantis pocket holster but the grip made it hard to draw. My 642 airweight blows the Kahr away for drawing from a pocket or IWB (DeSantis also, ambi) IMO. The finger grooves and rubber grip let me hook it with my fingers and draw.

I have thought about CT grips but I can't see how my fingers and hand wouldn't block the laser.

p.s. cell phones are not good for close pictures.

Count me as another satisfied 642 owner. It carries well in a belt holster, in a pocket holster (jacket - inside left pocket) and in a fanny pack. Mine is loaded with Speer GDHP 135 +P.
My collection also includes an old S & W Model 37 with a 3" barrel.

And the membership grows...I won't ask what kind of wines, beer, foods, cars, all of the members like, since this is a gun forum, but I am sure you all have exceptional and refined choices in these areas as well. Welcome.

I added a CT lg-305 grip on Monday, and shot it 2nite. Coool!
The laser grips worked well. You can see ahead of time if ya pull it. I do notice the trigger is tight. Am hoping it softens with age. i am currently firing 158G Wadcutters. I load them for my N frame. i think i will look for a lighter load for this gun.

One of my favorites and for small fixed sights it's pretty decently accurate too. Great carry gun.

I see someone has a PCS holster...very classy...welcome krieger.

Thanks UH1-D, it's a pretty good holster, a bit stiff sometimes, but man that thing keeps my 642 IN PLACE, never owned a pocket holster that was easier to draw from than that PCS holster.

I've had 442s and one 642 in the past and somehow got away from them. Coming to my senses, I now have "more than one" of the 37-2s that were on the market some time back and one really pristine 442 no dash. May get another 642 one day but am happy with the blued models.
