I couldn't vote because you didn't have a choice for "I own a forty and am building an airplane." Yes, I really am building an airplane and I really do like 40 caliber. What's the deal with black helicopters?

What's the deal with black helicopters?

Azredhawk likely lives in Arizona, and might be getting a little paranoid because of the Border Patrol egg-beaters flying over his house looking for TONC's (Travelers Ourside their Native Country).

Not to worry; one of the pilots is a friend of mine, and I've flown with him a few times. They really are just looking for UDA's.

Don't worry much about helicopters(I don't think I've seen one with any colored paint job in 3 or 4 years) and prefer the simplicity of operation and higher muzzle vel. and energy that can be obtained from revolvers.

Never really cared for the 40 S&W. I like the 9mm, and the 10mm is one of my all time favorites, but the .40 Smith I can do without.

I've been on the forty bandwagon since day one, owned many and still do. My favorite shooters for gun fun are the forties I own. I see it as the semi pistol version of the missing link between primate and homosapien. There was the 9mm and the 45, there was a gap, something missing.

As far as dark helicopters, no problem as long as they aren't flying with the UFO's and men in black! When I see the Ufo's and men in black I put on my aluminum foil hat so they can't get inside my head.

Well, let's see...

I don't care for dark helos, I shoot "modern" hand guns, and I own a few 1911's; some of those modern as well. Do I like a louder, more expensive, lower cap, version of the 9 mm? No, not really.

"It's not that I dislike the cartridge, it's more that I own several 9s with which I am totally confident for self-defense/carry purposes, and I don't feel the .40 stands out enough from the 9 to compel me to put forth the effort and cost of stocking another caliber."

Amen, especially the part about it being too close to the 9 mm. If I want to ramp it up from 9 mm, I have a .45 acp, and if more is needed, I have a true .40, the 10 mm! .40s&w is an answer, to a question that I have never asked anyway.

"Its not 'people' in the black helicopters, they're using alien bounty hunters!"

Please folks, let's keep it civil, they should be called "undocumented" bounty hunters.

You don't have the right catagory for me

I have a Glock Mod 22, I ain't pretty but it gets the job done every time and I know the caliber is sufficient for what it's designed for. I like new designs as well as old, as long as they are reliable and accurate. I used to have a S&W 9mm. While it always went "BOOM" it was terribly inacurate. I have nothing against the 9mm. I don't see the point in full sized pistols in 9mm. It's a smaller round ideally suited for smaller pistols.
When the price of guns, ammo and reloading supplies comes back down and the economic situation stabalizes I'll be looking for a .45 in a 1911 platform. I think every collection needs at least one. I don't currently own a 9mm, don't plan to, I'm not recoil sensitive so why not go a little bigger?
I might pick up a 9 for my wife though.
