A .25 won't make me safe, nor will it make me "feel safe". The only thing that will make me feel or be safe is me. My tools are are secondary to me being prepared. So I don't worry too much about the .25 in my pocket.

Self defence gun

The main question here is "self defense gun;" before the police went to semi autos, they carried the 38 caliber. Anything smaller than a 38 will increase the assailant's chances of surviving his wound. If you're intention is to only wound your attacker, and he'll hopefully turn around and flee, then a 22, 25, or 380 will do that job. But if your attacker decides to press his attack and kill you before he dies from excessive bleeding, then you better make your 2nd shot a head shot, assuming you hadn't emptied all your rounds in his torso. When Reagan was shot by John Hinckley, it was a 22, and Reagan walked into the emergency room on his own.

I carried a Taurus PT-25 while walking my dog after we were charged by a pack of three off-leash dogs ... but I never really felt safe and finally sold it. The smallest caliber I carry now is a .38 revolver, which is my car gun. On my person, nothing less than 9mm. As others have said, it's better than nothing, but I'd much rather try and deter an attack with a bullet large enough so shot placement under huge stress is not so critical.

Sure. No problem. If accidental discharge in the pocket were a concern I could always carry it unloaded to feel safer.

For personal defense I always carry a 9mm or 45acp or 45colt or, worst case, a 38spl snub with nyclads.

Yep and what about the others They went down right their . Reagan was lucky that day Round was near his heart.

I fear no AD with pocket carry as I make concessions for daily carry item location. But size of caliber is suspect for SD carry. I would rather find my grubby meat hook latched onto a 9mm minimum in my pocket...

It is better than a sharp stick. But more of a danger to the owner if carried with a round in the chamber. It has no stopping power. If you shot someone who has a gun they will shoot you and if they are hit they may pass away the next day. That is not any comfort to me especially when they make 10oz 38 +p 38 specials which i am sure are lighter to carry than any 25 or 32.
In some cases I would rather have a good knife, especially a fixed blade knife. I was almost attacked by 5 feral dogs in the middle of a remote area.In a case like that I would rather have a nice 6" knife than a 25. I was about to be bitten by the sheppard at my rear as they all were circling me. At the SOUND of the hammer cocking on my 357 Trooper and a nano-second before I was going to shoot the shepard they all ran away. I believe these were all hunting dogs that the owners could not wait for them to return and turned feral. I think they knew what a gun was?

You are seriously mistaken about the .25. A CNS hit with a .25 will stop anyone as quickly as a .44 magnum. Why would you think that anyone that is being shot at with a .25 would do anything but go the other way?
Relying on a knife for self defense will likely get you killed.
My Browning lightweight .25 and my Keltec P32 weigh less than 10 ounces, BTW.

A well placed .25 hit will surely get the BG's attention and if it doesn't, shoot for the head. A .25 cal is better than a stick.

Maybe the .25 will not stop the attack on it's own. My thoughts are that the little round may not stop the attacker, but might take quite a bit of the fight out of the attacker. With multiple BG's like in the "feral dog" story, one or two rounds in each BG will give you more of a fighting chance than without. Like was said before, it's better than a .45 at the house.

.25 Auto will work most of the time just like blanks will and for the same reason.

On the other hand, .25 Auto will work as well as .44 Magnum with extremely lucky shot placement.
