Kick is a subjective thing. Stock fit can be very important, because if a big gun doesn't fit you it seems to kick much harder.
Recoil is a mathematical formula, but "kick" varies from man to man with the same rifle. Recoil is what the gun does; "kick" is how it feels.
I am on the 2nd barrel in my 375H&H. Yup, I shot the throat out of the 1st one. I shot that rifle a LOT in my younger years, and I still would if not for the cost of the bullets these days.
I don't think my 375 kicks hard at all. (Obviously, or I would not have shot it about 14,000 rounds)
Now what KICKS is a 4 bore with a heavy powder charge. Here is one I made, being shot with a
light charge.
I have also made two 2 bore rifles and I refused to fire them. If velocity is equal, when you double the projectile weight you quadruple the recoil.
Here are pics of the 1st 2 bore rifle I made.

These three pics above were taken before the rifle was finished.
Here are a few after the gun was finished, engraved and checkered.
I was talking to a man telling me about his 460 Weatherby a few years ago. He was shocked when I told him I was making. A rifle that I could load ---- using the barrel from his 460 as a ram-rod.
He though I was kidding until I showed him. That statement was literally true.
