Worst Kick Ever Felt!!!!

I'm with the OP,,,

That .375 H&H Magnum is just about the worst thing I have ever shot.

Bigger cartridges have moved me more,,,
But none have the sharp impulse of that magnum.

It kills at both ends.

Thompson/Center .54 cal muzzleloader. I was shooting 120gr of powder with a roundball, I had a hangfire that went off when I had about 2" between the steel butt plate and my shoulder.

I think that when I had to qualify with the 870 Riot Shotgun in the military, it was probably that 12th round of 3" 00 Buckshot that did it. Other than that, I once owned a Ruger Model 77RL (ultra light) that weighed just over 6lbs with scope in .270 Winchester. That was pretty bad after a round or two.

Any of the .300 mags is my upper limit. 30-06, 7mm mag, .35 Whelen all feel about the same to me, the recoil from those calibers and their kin doesn't bother me at all. I had a Mod 70 in .338 mag for a while, but it just hurt too much and frankly, I couldn't see where it worked any better than my old '06 on any of the game I shot with it, so I sold it.
The worst recoil I ever felt was when a 16ga double barrel loaded with slugs fired both barrels at the same time. It was my friends gun and he said it had never done that before. He sold it.

From a firearm, 3-1/2" Magnum Winchester Blindside shells out of my Mossberg 535.....don't know why but that gun recoils worse than any shotgun I've ever hunted with. Didn't really rock my shoulder too bad, just felt like somebody punched me in the face afterwards.

Worst kick ever........horse. Needless to say it wasn't fun.

Of what I own, the .458 with 400gr bulles at nearly 2500fps is real bad.

The .45-70 Ruger N0.3 with a 350gr @2200fps rock me back a step (and I do have a nice thick ventilated pad on the gun, curtesy of the previous owner). Neither of these will I shoot prone.

My .375 H&H Ruger No.1 is a handful also, but it weighs nearly twice as much as the No.3 (or seems to, anyway).

Like Terhuna my worst experience ever was with a Weatherby .300 magnum.

The first and only scope bite I have ever received. Handed it back to my brother and said "glad it don't belong to me"!!!!!!!!!!

haha unfortunately I didn't have that option...my brother(who was the one that sold it to me) simply said "glad it aint mine no more" lol I was kinda ticked

In a rifle, a .375 H&H mag. Unpleasant as hell; can't even imagine firing a .416RM, let alone a .460W or .577T. In a handgun, my own T/C Contender in .45-70, factory Remington 300 gr. Hand goes numb after a few.

Tikka T3 Lite in 300WSM.
180gr pills...shot a full box of them and really felt it the next day.
A SW 360 with full house 158gr rounds will definitely get your attention.

Single shot H & R 12 gauge

With Remington Nitro Turkey load. 1 7/8 oz. Wasn't bad when shooting game but a real thunderclap when still shooting. Once was good enough.:D

In my youth...

In my youth, suffering from testosterone poisoning, I had to have a 375 H&H. I bought an M70 Winchester. I shot one round through it. I traded it seven or so years ago and considered it part of the program of recovery for testosterone poisoning that men will often find in their years of wisdom...

That's a tough call.

It would probably come down to one of the following:
Winchester 1200 Defender with 3" mag slugs, empty magazine, and an 11 year old boy pulling the trigger. :(
Or...
.450 Nitro Express 3.25" with 480 gr DGS. It has very "snappy" recoil, that isn't much fun. (It's perfectly manageable... but I'll shoot something else, if there's a choice. ;))

I don't know where all you guys found all these hard-kicking 375 H&Hs. I used to shoot my Mark X Whitworth Express rifle in a T shirt.

No, the worst I ever owned was a 8mm Rem Mag, I often describe shooting it like getting your head slammed in a car door, muzzle blast was horrific and the recoil was sickening.

Worst I ever fired was a 340 Weatherby, romper-stomper, made me feel like I went 3 rounds with Ali. 460 Weatherby has a muzzle brake on it that works pretty well, plus it's a heavy rifle, 458 Win Mag is just a 45-70 on a testosterone high, compared to the 340 Weatherby the 338 Win Mag is a pussycat.
