Worst Kick Ever Felt!!!!

I shot a Winchester model 70 pre 64 in 375 H&H magnum. No kick pad and only a t-shirt on! WOW never again. I'll stick to my 22/250.

In my foolish stupid youth, my cousin and I removed the shoulder stock from a 12 gage pump shotgun, and held on to the threaded stud, sort of like a pistol grip. I think the stud was 1/2 inch diameter, and about 3 inches long. My cousin fired it with one hand, and the screw threads drew blood on his palm. I wore leather gloves, but it was still quite punishing.

My Stepdad had this old black powder 8 gauge when I was a teenager. I shot it twice. The left barrel, and a few minutes later, the right barrel. Never ever again. It was like getting kicked in the shoulder and punched in the face at the same time. Of course I weighed about 160 pounds and didn't know much about shooting at the time. :o

A friend was going to Africa so went to the range to sight in his .458 Winchester Ruger 77. He spent the whole day at the bench. The next day at work he couldn't lift his arm. His shoulder was black down his side to his waist and down to his wrist. Brutal!

Another friend got a "deal" on a Ruger 77 .458 Win Mag. Stood and fired it. Knocked him on his butt and he traded it the next day for a Weatherby Mk V .300 Weatherby mag.

Ive read about these guys shooting these African double rifles in .600 Nitro etc and popping an eyeball out!

No way.

I've never fired anything larger than a .458 Lott. I find the .458 Win Mag unpleasant and the .458 Lott and .416 Rigby unpleasant to a fault. The .375 H&H has what I consider heavy but quite tolerable recoil with 300gr bullets. I'm currently wresting with the purchase of a Win Mod. 70 Safari in .375 H&H or a Ruger African in 9.3x62 (to use 286gr bullets) for Alaska and just for a different shooting experience. Since I hand load, I can customize the ammo for comfort as well as use. I have never fired a 9.3, but expect it would be on the same order as the .35 Whelen, which feels like a .30-06 on 'roids...oh, wait a sec, it is.

:LOL

Worst kick ever felt ?

the time when my first implantable defibrillator went off. [ I'm on #4 now ]
750 volts straight to the heart...POW...
felt like I had been kicked in the chest by a mule. wait a minute..you mean the worst kick ever felt by a firearm, nope.can't do it anymore..It's an implant thing..:(

My 8x68S Mag kicks worse than anything I've ever shot. Downright painful even with a decent pad. Actually split the stock the 1st time I took it to the range.

So far the worst kick has come from a H&R single shot 12 ga. shooting slugs. It didn't have a recoil pad or anything on it. Not fun...

Got Chuck Norris'd a couple years ago by a 1200 lb cow. Got me right in the boiler room and sent me flying. Broke three ribs and hurt for two months. Strong "kick" isn't any fun and that's why I like my small calibers. I have a 7 mag that hasn't been shot since '04 for that reason. I would like to own some of the bigger calibers but I know I'd never shoot them. I don't flinch or anticipate the shot or anything like that with them...I just don't enjoy it. I did shoot a bolt action 50 barrett a few times. It was akin to a religious experience but mainly because of the concussion of the muzzle blast.

up until last thanksgiving I had never fired a heavy caliber rifle(243 had been the largest) and had just bought a 300 weatherby mag from my brother. I got all excited and mounted a nice scope on and went out in the drive way to try it out for the first time. four shots later I came back inside with a "good 'nough" sighted in rifle along with a broken nose, a black eye and asking for some ice with my brother and brother in law both gut rolling in the gravel outside.

that was the first second and last time I've ever been scope bit.
