39. Kimber Pro CDP.

If your looking to government for the solution, you obviously don't understand the problem.

I'm in my mid forties and most often carry a Lightweight Officer's ACP in condition one in a summer special type holster. In colder weather when a sweater or jacket is required, it's a full sized Kimber in a IWB Blade Tech holster. I've tried the Glocks, H&K, Stars, The S&Ws, mouse guns, but keep coming back to the 1911 Mark / FL

I carry a 1911 on occasion. I am 33 years old. I carry it only one way, cocked and locked.

I was reading Cooper on Handguns when I was 13yo; how could I not be a 1911 guy? Don't carry often, but when I do it's a C&L compact 1911 for this . . . you do the math.

42 and presently own 2 1911's.. One a Springfield Armory Mil-spec that has all the modifications I feel benificial to me for carry and a box stock older (70's vintage) Colt Combat Commander because I just had to have a colt :)

Back when money was tight and I had to whittle down to only one gun it was the SA that stayed in my possession because it's the one I shoot the best and have confidence in. I carry it cocked & locked.

35. If I were to carry, it would be either my Colt Commanding Officer's (Action/reliability/bushing by Tussey Custom) or my Sig 226, in that order.

I'm 32 and I'm with Ed on this one. A lightwieght commander or my full sized DA Triggered 1991A1 in a Galco slide.. which also fits my FEG hi-power. Houge monogrips on all 3.

The commander was my first "big bore" all those new plastic guns feel wierd in my hand. The 1911 just "feels" right.

Cocked and locked is the ONLY way to carry a 1911.

When I'm at home and want to be comfortable and capable I carry my Kimber ultra CDP because that is what God made my hands to fit! I carry a Sig 220 at work and I bought a P-99 9mm for my wife, I also own a nice Colt python 4", those are the toys I can choose from when I have my say. I choose the Kimber!

PS. I'm only a young 32

"COCKED AND LOCKED"
@ 52, But I'm getting the call of a CZ type .45.

First love was a Stainless Govt. Model, tried to size down, went to Detonics for a while. Some mystique to a 1911, though...sort of like your first true love.

I'm 62 and carry a Para p12 with recoil-spring cap conversion and a gunsmith-tuned trigger.

Since I'm oldest, does that mean my gun is the best?

Colt's Light Weight Commander, .45ACP, cocked and locked. (One extra magazine.)

I'm old enough to barely remember Pearl Harbor... and seeing Blue Stars in windows, being taken down and Gold Stars taking their place, including one for one of my uncles.

i am 40. i agree with the poster who wrote that many younger guys seem to like double action pistols. i have noticed that most older guys carry a 1911 or a revolver. i turned 40 this year and i guess i have been one of the older guys for longer than that.

28 (29 next month, so any 1911 parts/toys are welcome). I carry a SA "loaded" every day, when I don't have to use my S&W 686 at work.

Right now, it's in a Fobus holster but I hope to see that changed tomorrow evening when I get back from the gun show in Greenville. Maybe something in kydex, but something in leather if plastic isn't available.

And some 185 target ammo.

And some cleaners.

And some grips.

And some sights.

And a Ruger MkII.

And a .380 GM......

When Reason Fails.....

43 years old, stainless stell Para Ordnance P12/Colt hybrid. Usually only in cooler weather that I can wear a hip length coat.

I carry a 1911 clone on and off. It all depends on what I am doing. Knowing that I have 230 grain balls ready to strike sure is nice. Oh, and I am 24.

57.
1911 family since early 60s. When revolvers were required for duty, I carried the .45 on my own time even then.

LW Commander most days since 1968. Cocked & Locked, one spare mag with issue Win SXT230.

As to age, I probably know a dozen guys in 20s and 30s who carry 1911s on duty. Dunno about off duty.
