Which one???

the eBay one is decent for the money I have one on my .22lr trainer but the Harris is much better if you can afford it.

If your going to shoot off a bench all the time a rest is better then a bipod.

If your going to shoot prone off the ground a bipod is better

I will probably be doing both, starting off on the bench and then eventually from the prone. My concern is that if the ebay one doesn't swivel and I need it to swivel then maybe I should lean towards the Blackhawk or Harris. If the Blackhawk will work then I rather have that and save the rest of the $ that I would spend on the Harris I could put it towards a scope or ammo etc.

depends

I have a harris as well as some clones...
Not all are created equal.
None of mine swivel.,
The diffrences are the adjustibility of the legs.
The harris has a knob on each leg that allows independent adjustment.
Some of the others do, some are just notches and you take what you get.

I am not certain on the blackhawk vs the caldwell vs the harris without looking at all of them together but I think I have all three.

I do rember to swap out to the harris if I'm shooting prone as the caldwell only has slots in the legs and it was a pain to level on uneven ground.

Weeknshooter-this thread was started 'some time ago' and curiosity compells me to ask - how's the shooting going - any pictures of targets?

1000K is really really far.
But if you are trying to save money, just don't get a bipod. You don't need one. Find some wooden blocks and stick some carpet or material on them. Or shoot off your backpack. Getting started a bipod is really optional.

I'm late on the input, maybe, but here's my two bits. I got an X7 in 7-08. It'll do 1000k and I also wanted it for hunting and took a nice deer with it last fall at 400+. If you want a purely target shooter the X7VH is a very good choice, and the 308 if fine (wish they make it in a 7-08, however).

Just buy a Harris. I made the mistake of "saving" money on a Caldwell one time. Never again, you get what you pay for.

I still have a Harris I bought over 14 years ago. Most of the finish is worn off but it's good as the day I bought it.

Where is a good place to find a harris bipod? I haven't shot it at all. I still haven't gotten a scope due to lack of funds. Lol I did get some ammo just waiting to get a scope. How is the clarity with the SS scopes?

Don't personally know anything of the SS scopes. I have all Vortex and Leupold, been very happy with both... Vortex is probably some of the best bang for your buck.

The Blackhawk bipods are very good for the money. I have one on my Savage.
As far as scopes go, look at Vortex. Lifetime no questions asked warranty and very good glass.

For target work only, I'd recommend a Rem 700 SPS-Varmint in .308 WIn. I'd plan on replacing the stock (B&C, McMillan, etc), Leupy bases and rings and a decent Leupy or Vortex Viper scope.

Mine (a 700 SPS-V in a B&C A-5 stock, skim bedded, Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP MOA/MOA scope is perfect. This coming week, I'll be replacing the factory X-Mark Pro trigger w/ a 2-1/2 lb Timney 510 (w/ long sear). It's been a 1/2-3/4 MOA shooter with FGGM and my handloads...I expect results at least as good with the new trigger.
