If you are allowed to decide which sidearm you want to take to war, which one would you take?

I'll list some guns in the poll, but if I miss anything, just vote others and list your choice in your reply.

I'd take the Glock.

Even though I own a S&W revolver and a Colt 1911, the only sidearm I would take to war is a Glock.

I remember this time at the range, my rental Glock 34 was jammed due to a magazine malfunction.

I asked one of the employees to help me fix the problem, and all he did was retract the slide, empty the chamber, pull out the magazine, and slam the bottom of the magazine against the floor.

The malfunction was caused by lack of cleaning after thousands of rounds.

I personally don't think any other guns I listed can pull that off AND offer me 17 + 1 rounds of 9mm.

I voted Ruger just because it's what I own and am familiar with. I'd probably get a Glock next or a Sig so I'd take any of those too.

Don't you want to be the grizzly guy who is shooting a Beretta while everyone around you is shooting an M-16? He looked pretty cool in We Were Soldiers

I'm pretty sure the sergeant in We Were Soldiers was using a service 1911.

Anyway, why would you want to take a handgun to war? I'd think a rifle is more important, but anyway...

It's important to keep in mind that, if we're talking NATO standards and the Hague Convention, FMJ only. That said, I'd still take either a USP9-SD or a Sig P226 SCT. I'm leaning towards the USP because it can be carried cocked-and-locked and has the utterly awesome mag release.

I would have more than one handgun, but I would definately have a rifle. I don't have any military rifle look a likes, but I would make do with what I have

First, I'd want my rifle.

The handgun would be a secondary weapon. As far as what I personally would prefer, give me a battle proven weapon thank you. I'll take a High Power. :D If I couldn't have that then give me a Glock.

Biker

Probably an xD in .45ACP.
I love the 1911, but extra capacity and simplicity of care in the xD win out over the 1911 trigger.

I would take any ruger p series, I am familer with them I know they will work in adverse conditions and there easy to break down be clean

H&K USP .40

Never happen in this country... but if I was in a mercenary business that's probably what I'd carry, to match my G3:D.

I would take a Colt 1911 with me, why? because thats what i am comfortable with. Like said before though, its my primary weapon, a rifle, that i would really worry about carrying.

I'll take a scandium J frame and one more M16 mag.because no matter what awesome handgun you have in your holster the M4 is better.

There are a good number of pistols I'd be comfortable with in a war zone, but if I had a choice it would be a HK, maybe the MK23 because of it's legendary reliability and increased "umph" due to a long barrel. Most any HK made would be adequate, but the MK23 and USP Elite have that little bit more to give, in the way of increased bullet speed and accuracy.

I'd be tempted by one of the HK 9mm 18 round mag models, but I think in the end a 12 round .45acp is just fine.
