Which handgun does your wife prefer?

I'm not asking which handgun is right for women. I'm asking which handgun your wife, girlfriend or sister prefers. Most women are considerably smaller than men so I think this will be interesting. I think this will be a good thread for wives and husbands to see which handguns women really prefer and see if their is a trend with any one handgun. My "aunt-in-law" prefers a 44 magnum revolver which blew me away...figuratively.

She has had a LadySmith for a long time, but carries a Bauer 25, always. But now, sigh, she wants my Ruger LCR. Just can't keep her satisfied I guess.

My wife likes my Dad's .22 Ruger target pistol. She emptied the clip in ot the head portion of the target at 25 feet. Not bad for a first time shooter.

She also likes the Beretta 420 (pic in the Pock Pistol ID thread in Semi-Auto) that I got, but we're trying to get some .25 ACP sop she can actually fire it.

My wife prefers to shoot my XD 9 Tactical - and does very well with it. She shoots that better than the XD SC. She wont shoot the 1911. That said, for now it is only shooting at the range. Despite having her CCW and taking a defensive handgun course, she isnt ready (in her mind) to carry at this point.

My child bride prefers the Walther P-22. She has two, one with the 5" barrel and one with the shorter 4" barrel. And both have been "pinked out" with DuraCoat pink on the slide, trigger, and mag bases (to match her custom pink kydex holster from Ready Tactical!

She likes a bit of "fashion" in her firearms.

Wife like the Dan Wesson wheel gun as long as there's 38 specials in it. She wants a k-22 (Smith 17), and a 648.
She has no love at all for any semi-autos- has no interest to shoot them or own one.

Daughters input instead?

My wife hasn't made herself available to shoot anything yet, but I am still working on her. My 16 year old daughter, however, enjoys anything that goes BOOM.

Her preferences?

She does very much enjoy, and does very well with her two S&W Model 10 .38 special wheelguns (6 inch barrels no less as she didn't like how the shorter ones looked, go figure) as well as her S&W 9MM Semi-auto.

A brief stint with an AR-15 style pistol also brought huge smile to her face.

She has also shot everything I have including my S&W .44 mag and although she handled it well at 5'5", 110 lbs., it is not something she wanted to shoot all day. Actually, it was not something I wanted to shoot all day either.

My wife appropriated my Ruger P89. So far she hasn't shown any preference for a wheel gun, says she likes having 15 rounds at her disposal :)

My wife and my two college-age daughters have experience with handguns limited to my two, a S&W 642 and a Glock 26. Since I got the Glock, they won't touch the J-frame. Funny thing, they like hitting what they aim at, and don't enjoy getting their hands beat up by the recoil of that light little wheel gun.

To be honest, I don't have a good reason to argue with them.

I'm not a wife, but I am female. I prefer an all-steel 1911.

My wife prefers:

My Smith & Wesson model 60 (sweet).... It is loaded with the new Hornady "Critical Defense" rounds (110 grain hp). Light recoil and very accurate, equals a great little package.

She likes my H&R 676 revolver with the 22 mag cylinder in it best. She tried the 22 LR cylinder and she tried the S&W 22A semi auto, but just didn't like them as much. She finally shot one of my centerfire handguns the other day. She shot 6 shots with the 38 specials loaded and actually shot quite well. She just didn't like how heavy it was. She just didn't care for dealing with the slide on the 22 auto. The whole thing was just too complicated for her she said. As for the 22 LR cylinder in the H&R, she just kind of sniffed and said what's the point of shooting an itty bitty shell when you can shoot one that's lots bigger with the 22 mag. OK. As long as she likes it. :D

YOU are a lady my wife would like!

My gal still loves her three screw Black Hawk/.357 I bought her in '67 but she carries a stainless Charter Arms stubby/.38 with Pachmeyer grips as a more practical thing. She isn't intimidated with my GI 1911A1 or S&W M29/6" either. :D

She's tuff clear thru ... one more month and she will celibrate her 50th year of being married to me! :)
