Which handgun does your wife, fiancée or girlfriend use for a house gun?

Her current favorite, CZ 2075 RAMI BD 9mm, called the Black Diamond.

That is an interesting CZ! When I first got into Police Action Pistol back in the early 90s I used a CZ 75, I think the model number was at the time ... a wonderful pistol indeed! Does the latest versions point as well as the older models did?

For both Daughters, I gifted them...

the oldest has a Charter Arms Undercover and A5 12ga.

Youngest has my Ruger LCP.

Wife relies on 911 when I'm away. [Can't handle a Woodsman recoiling]

WildBill, the CZ 2075 is actually based off the ill fated Colt/CZ hybrid called the Z-40, later sold in the US as the CZ-40B, which was intended to blend the CZ action with a 1911 profile - hence the grip profile and two screw setup you see. The RAMi has really taken off as a subcompact carry pistol, quite popular. This one has BGlas grips and the optional 14 round extended magazine. Here it is with as-issued 10 round mag, much shorter.

I can't get a grip with the itty bitty mag, so when I get the ultra rare chance to shoot my wife's CZ, I use the extended mag. :) It is really quite accurate - just playing around I rang my steel target at 100 yards 1 out of 3 times.

Yes, the original is the CZ-75 - look here to see how things have evolved. http://cz-usa.com/

My wife is very comfortable, and proficient, with my Ruger P95. She has shot my P97(same exact gun as the P95, but chambered in 45acp) and did very well with it, but decided she liked the softer recoiling 9mm. I have since switched the P95 for the P97, in the pistol safe. She doesnt know it.

wife's choice

Dirty Harriet,a 6in Super Comanche 44 mag(think model 29 clone) loaded with 44 spl hollow points. She is very good with it and likes the fact that the weight tames the recoil.

Taurus 24/7 Pro-C Compact, 9mm. 17-rd mags, always with her.

But, she's also a retired Jarhead and anyone messing with her has to worry about multiple issues...
Hand-to-hand, knives, anything within arm's reach, etc...
not to mention the contents of the gun safes...and all the martial arts weaponry hanging in the gun room....

Dogs, can they change your choice of carry?

I may need to teach my dogs how to carry!

Help take a BITE out of crime!

Speaking of dogs, one must consider what to do if you are walking your dog and encounter a dangerous situation. The dog(s) can pull you if they are on a leash and make it impossible to shoot well. Do you let them go or try and handle them? This may also sway your choice of gun/holster for this purpose, as you want quick access and quick handling as the dogs will change the dynamics for sure. Maybe you switch from your full SIZE 1911 and belt holster to your Glock 42 in your jacket pocket?

I have thoughts on that and may cover that in another post...

Let's see . . . . my wife uses a Smith & Wesson . . . my fiancee' uses a Ruger . . . and my girlfriend uses a Colt. Let's hope they never get together! :D

My wife's not a gun person they scare her so I've never tried to get her to carry a gun. I did try to get her to shoot a gun once and it just reinforced my opinion that she's better off without one. Guns just aren't for everyone so I bought her some pepper spray that she keeps in her purse. In her case I honestly think pepper spray is better than a gun.

Bought my wife a SP101 3'' about 4 years ago. Got her doing pretty well with it too.
Fast forward to 6 months ago. She wanted to try the M&P9. Rest is history. She likes the idea of 17 rounds. How could I disagree.....:) She's pretty darn good with it.

Be careful now!

She keeps an ancient S&W model 36

Why does it have to "Ancient?"

By proxy you are alluding to the fact that we who also hold the 36 dear are also Ancient via the power of words! The 36 is a worthy handgun for the job, and is still current and working like a swiss watch!

My wife's house gun, is a nickel plated Colt Detective Special, she has had more than twenty years.
Right now I have a ancient model 36 on my hip! lol :)
