Which companies give out lifetime warranties?

Isn't the glock warrenty just a year, but the same type of customer service as ruger, send it to them and they will fix it?

Most quality firearms will last you your lifetime and your son or daugthers lifetime as well. My Rugers dont have a Warranty. But Im not worried Because I know Ruger quality.

"Taurus might come with a lifetime warranty but I'll put it to you this way. A guy who works with me at the gun shop, bought a Taurus just to mess around with, it went to the factory 3 times, they still never made it right"

Ummm, This is the reason most guns are crap. Because people "Mess around with them" and screw things up.

Never had a problem with Taurus that I couldnt handle myself 15 years and still going strong.

EAA

I have no idea what their warranty policy is (nor, frankly, do I care), but I had a recent this-year experience with their actual service for two of my much-loved Witnesses.

Admitturdly, their vocal service wasn't all warm and fuzzy, but the work done was exceptional. Absolutely stellar, more in line what I would anticipate from a professional custom pistolsmith.
Both guns were returned to me in unbelievable condition.
Both were no longer covered by their warranty, having already been modified.
The cost was $160 total for both.

To me, the MOST important thing is the QUALITY OF REPAIR. Even if it costs a few bucks.....I mean, that's what I want when I ship off a pistol, ay?

The warranty on a gun is right behind what color the box is on my list of factors when I'm looking at a gun. It simply isn't a factor. Maybe I've been lucky but I've never bought a bad gun.

I wouldn't let the warranty or lack of one, keep me from getting something I want.

Kel-Tec has a lifetime warranty. Doesn't matter if you are the original owner or not. In my opinion they have the best customer service in the industry. I have had to deal with a lot of different gun manufactures through out the years, and Kel-Tec beats them all!

I've had two experiences with Para's CS. Couldn't have been any better.

Bully for you....that means it must have taken you only two weeks to get an RA instead of three:rolleyes:

I've had dealings with many of the companies mentioned and honestly most have been very favorable. One of my all time favorite CS experiences also comes form another Company with no formal written Warranty policy. Wilson Combat has repeatedly been one of the easiest companies to do business with and willing to bend over backwards to make you a satisfied customer. They obviously aren't selling low dollar items but no matter what the product you get from them I've never even seen them hesitate to do whatever it takes to make you happy.

I make it a point not to buy firearms from any company that gives out a "lifetime warranty". I find that most products, including guns, that need to advertise "lifetime warranty" is to aleviate genuine concerns buyers might have about quality and reliability.

Two things I want when I buy a gun is quality and reliability. In the past I've purchased cheap and allegedly "good value" guns - one even had a lifetime warranty. Regardless of the warranty, the gun was still crap and broke to a point that it caused permenant damage to the frame.

Ed Brown doesn't give a lifetime warranty.
Sphinx doesn't give a lifetime warranty.
CZ doesn't give a lifetime warranty.
Sig doesn't give a lifetime warranty.
Other quality manufacturers typically don't give a lifetime warranty - (although some - S&W - do).

Quality will be there for you when you need it the most; a "lifetime warranty" can get you killed when you need it the most. The bottom line is buy a gun based on quality.......not warranty.

Thompson Center, which is now owned by SW, has a lifetime warranty. I have had to use it a few times for simple items like springs and pins, and with a simple phone call I was shipped the parts no cost to me.

Worst CS and the worst dealings I have had were with Kimber. I refuse to own their product any longer because even if something were to go wrong out of the box, it is a hassle, arm and a leg, and many $$ to get it corrected.

Other than those two extremes of good and bad, I have not had many times where warranty issues bothered me.

Experience #1: Last year the LDA trigger linkage on my P14 failed. I got an RA via e-mail. Sent the gun in, had it back in 11 days IIRC (including UPS taking five days to deliver a 2-day parcel ). They replaced the whole linkage, including the hammer, free of charge. I'm not the original owner; they didn't even ask.

Experience #2: Just about three weeks ago, a grip screw walked off the job on the same pistol. I called, and had four screws in hand four days later, again no charge.

Now, all I did in my previous post was allude to my experiences, and you felt the need to belittle me as a fanboi. Because my experiences can't possibly be valid. How can they be, when they don't coincide with yours?

:barf:

You called yourself a fanboy.
Looks like he was making a snide comment about Para.
As much as we strive to make this board clean, it should be reciprocated by members on an adult oriented board require some sort of thick skin...

Bond Arms...with a less than seven day turn around. I sent one of mine in for firing pin repair, (my fault not the gun's, I dry fired it one too many times). I sent it in on the Friday before labor day and called to see if the gun had arrived on the following Wednesday, after labor day. They told me they got the gun on Tuesday and had fixed it and shipped it on Tuesday. Less than an hour after I got off the phone, the FedEx guy was on my porch handing me my gun. :)

Plus they sent me a new Bond Arms ball cap and a cable style trigger lock for free. ;)

Just a general observation:

We've all heard of countless stories (both good and bad) on the internet about gun manufacturers and their customer service.

Perhaps I've just been lucky, but I believe that you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. Seems like the "bull in a china cabinet" type personalities have the toughest time with CS reps. They are people too, and do respond to how they are treated. If a gun has a defect of some sort, you can bet it isn't the fault of the CS representative that answers the phone.

That said, I've used warrantys from companies "other than gun manufacturers" and have been able to smooth talk them into getting the desired results. Sometimes you have to go up the chain of command, but if you do it tactfully and use common courtesy you increase your chances of succuess.

S&W, along with some other firearm manufacturers, has a
"Lifetime Service Policy", distinct from the manufacturer's warranty:

Wilson Combat's warranty policy --- is complete customer satisfaction..

I've never had to send one of my Wilson's in for service ( but I just went over 30,000 rounds in one of my Wilson 1911's - so its way too soon to tell ) / but buddies have used their shop to service other brands of 1911's like Kimber - and they've been great.

I bought a used 20 to 30 year old Charter Arms Undercover at a gun show about a year ago. I had a problem with the cylinder release. I sent it in to the factory and had it back within 2 weeks. They fixed it free. No problems since.

What companies allow civilians to take armorers courses? I llok all ove rand places say "must be law enforcement or a dealer" to take it. Then SIG says anybody wanting to learn the proper maintenance of their guns can take the course. Think their warranty is lifetime too.
