Kinda partial to .357's...

25 ACP loaded to about 1,000 fps with 35 grain hollow-point bullets. The pistols are surprisingly small, accurate out to the distances you should use them (<5 yards) and have yet to fail me as an SD gun.

That's an awfully broad question. I have favorites for different applications. When I'm fishing in black bear country, I'm likely to have a .357 Mag with 180 grain cast or Partitions.

Target shooting: .38 Special & .45 ACP

Self defense: .40 S&W & .45 ACP

44 Special and 45 Colt, with 255 Keith and 285gr SAA. At 1000fps, extremely accurate, comfortable to shoot, and powerful.

Depends on where I'm shooting.

Outdoors, by far it's 22 LR. The only 22 I've got these days is an old vfive screw, S&W, K-22 from 1948. It's got a lot of wear, but mechanically it's in great shape.

But, where I spend most of my shooting time now at indoor ranges, I don't really like shooting a 22. I prefer 38 Special, in one of several S&W, 38/357 revolvers. 10's, 15's, and 19's.

In a semi-auto it's 9mm.

Currently, my only two pistols are 1911 in .45 (9mm just seems wrong in a milspec 1911, imo) and a family heirloom .41 Colt from 1895.
The Colt is very rarely fired, or handled...

I expect to pick up a 9, ammo is cheaper than a .45.
And a .357 at some point, but I may get a .45 long 1st.

Been wanting to try out the rental judge at my local indoor range...

I like 9mm, 380 and 22 magnum a lot. I've recently invested in a few 32 acp pistols and have been enjoying that cartridge a lot, especially out of my Colt 1903.

First and most favorite is 38 special. Followed by 357 and 9mm. And always 22LR and 22 mag. And any 32 I can get my hands on.

9mm with M&P Shield , S&W 5906 and S&W Model 65 .38 spl with a few .357's. LGS has great prices $8.00 - $15.00 50 round boxes which I've been stocking up . I like shooting .22LR but have just a the 10/22 so a pistol is my wish list.

Shoot about 5000 rounds .22lr in mostly pistols ranging from a Benelli MP90S to a Walther PPK. Like shooting 41 and 44mag at long range out to mostly 300yds and occasionally 500yrds.

Currently .38/.357 and .45acp., pretty bland I know but they do the job.

I do enjoy occasionally shooting .38 long colt and .38 short colt through the .357's.

The .38 Special.

You don't have to pick up brass. It can be incredibly accurate with the right load. It's very accurate with many loads. Really, you have to work at it to find a really bad load. Cost wise, it's less expensive to load than the big bores.

I also like and shoot the .41 Magnum and the .45 ACP but shoot the two together less than I shoot .38 Special.
