Which .22 handgun would you buy of these two?

Take the Woodsman

They are much more rare. Very cool guns from Colt's heyday.

You can get S&W 22 revolvers new to this day. I don't think 18s are made any more, but the newer ones are similar. Colt doesn't make anything like the Woodsman these days. They are beautiful.

I have both a '48 smith k-22 6" and a 47' colt 6" woodsman target model.

I love them both but the colt is a bit rarer to find in excellent condition and would be the one I would pick.

So, selling the kids to the Gypsies for gun funds is not an option eh?

You can't float a cash draw somewhere and pay it back in six months?

If you plan on shooting them (and I hope that you do), the ammo for the Model 18 is going to a lot more expensive than for the Woodsman.

If you don't plan on shooting them, the Model 18 is a little harder to find in this part of the country.

I'd take the revolver.

I have the woodsman. I took it apart after 1000 rounds and now i cant put it back together. NIGHTMARE!!!!!

You can't lose with either of those beauties.

I'm guessing that one or the other probably appeals to you a little bit more than the other on some level, but if you can beg, borrow or steal the dough to pick up both you'll never regret it.

A fine .22 handgun is a joy to own and shoot and both of these definately qualify :)

The S&W M-18, no question

I own an M-18 and they are not easy to find in any shape. They were made to be a trainer for the K-frame 38 and 357 S&Ws, and have the same weight, grip, and all ergos. They shoot cheap .22LR ammo. Great revolvers.

The new 617s are a poor substitute.

I'd hafta agree with previous poster, go with the woodsman, for roughly the same price you can get 550rounds of 22lr versus 50 rounds 22 mag. a few trips to the range and you will break even on the price difference.
