Where do you keep your HD?

I have a rotation group of HD weapons. S&W 1006, S&W 4506-1, BHP .40 Practical, and Browning BDM 9mm. They are kept in a keyless touchpad lockvault. Usually go 3 months with each weapon, then take it out, clean it, and replace it with the next "starting pitcher".

On a rotation type basis, on my person while awake; or under my pillow while
asleep. My sub-conscious mind is always alert, so I know that the weapon
is present; under my pillow.

under my pillow while asleep.

I cant do the under pillow, i sleep too wild and the gun ends up never in the same spot or smashed in the crevice of headboard. So in speaking of where i keep when in bed its in dresser drawer or somwehere close under a cloth/towel etc.

you could walk in and all thru my house and not notice any gun anywhere yet there almost inplain view in every room.

If I'm dressed, I have it on. If I'm not, its always within reach. I've done this for years, and so used to it, that I'm usually not aware that I have it on. I've caught myself feeling to see if I have it on. If you have a good carry rig, a full size gun is comfortable to carry all the time.

I keep a Springer 1911 in my nightstand, never moves except to shoot it so I always know exactly where it is ... there's a .357 revolver stashed in the living room ... and if I'm home, my NAA Pug is holstered in my front pocket, so light I don't even notice it but it means I always have a means of defending myself, no matter where in the house I am ... I'm not paranoid and I live in a very safe town, but that "it can't happen here" mentality has left a lot of people dead or very unhappy ...

XD-9SC with laser/ light: It's on me when I'm puttering around the house and on my nightstand when I slumber.

You're going to laugh,,,

I keep one in a holster screwed to the sideboard of my bed,,,

The only other handgun I keep permanently placed,,,
Is the one I have in my bathroom.

I once watched an interview with a convicted career burglar,,,
He said when he cased a residence he was going to rob,,,
He always watched for the bathroom light to come on.

He said that was a good time to invade a home.

Since then I keep one handgun in the medicine cabinet,,,
I don't want to get caught with my pants down,,,
So to speak.

"Under the pillow while I sleep." -- You've been watching too many cowboy movies. It's not safe to have a gun in bed with you while you're unconscious. At the risk of sounding like a basket-case, I sleep with a dental night-guard because I grind my teeth, and a CPAP mask because of apnea.

Hold on, there's more --

My chiropractor and physical therapists both recommend that I sleep with a pillow between my knees, and another under my arm. So, that's a lot of stuff in bed. Now and then I wake up to find I've removed the CPAP mask, and the night guard while half asleep. Pillows end up on the floor.

I don't want to find out what I might do with a gun in bed while half asleep.

No kids in the house.

If I have guests, the guns get rounded up and secured.

Revolver is in the night stand drawer, UNLOADED with a speed-loader. I want to be conscious enough to deliberately load the gun, not reach for a loaded gun in the drawer in the middle of a dream.

(I've never reached for the gun in my sleep, but it's in a closed drawer, unloaded.)

There's a 45 Semi-Auto and two mags in the TV cabinet. A 9mm in the secretary next to the back door. Scoped 30-06, AK, and Rem. 870 are all in the front of the gun safe, "reach ready" with ammo.

I don't live in a war zone. It's rural. The Sheriff takes about 30 min. to respond. Everyone in the area is deadly seriously armed; the jerks and the tweakers know this. A sure way to meet your justifiable death is to drive onto someone's rural property in the middle of the night with bad intentions.

Violent crime and home invasions in this area are ZERO. What's the motto? "Sic Vis Pacem, Parabellum"

Usually have a sixgun and carbine beside the bed,

a Colt's Dragoon pistol hanging on the wall beside the bed,

....some other stuff by the door,

And some old wall hangers over the desk that could pull security duty if need be,

A .380 under my couch cushion. My Winny .45colt M94 Trapper behind the kitchen/rear porch door. My Marlin 1893 32spl in the corner by the doorway between kitchen and livingroom.

 nice !

I smoke cigars, and have humidors all over my house. two pistols are closed into cigar boxes, on book cases.

I used to store a revolver and 2 speed loaders in a holster that was mounted to the back of my headboard.

I keep a long weapon, whichever I choose at the time, in a closet near the front door.

There is a revolver and speed loaders in my dresser drawer.

I'd rather talk about my deadbolts and window locks, I think that those are more important to my safety than anything inside of my house. I won't need the gun if the wanker is outside and can do nothing but swear at me through the windows. At the very least, those other measures afford me a few seconds while he attempts to defeat them, to muster my resources, mechanical and mental.

It bothers me that I have a back door that is kind of problematic and unprotectable, and a basement door that could let an entire horde of zombies in, that I have not a chance in hell of driving out. If that series of two doors is breached into the basement by someone, that entire floor is lost until a swat team with gas gets there. The nice thing, though, is that if it is entered, nobody could make it out and into the house proper through that locked door and tight stairwell with an armed person in the house.
