Where do you keep your HD?

Everyone has their own reason why they choose their specific Home Defense weapon, whether it be a Handgun, Shotgun, or pair of throwing Knives.

I do things a little different then most, i think. Growing up around firearms my entire life, in my home i have SEVERAL HD guns available. In fact, one in almost every room.
Currently these include:
Springfield TRP .45 w/TLR-2 light/laser
Glock 17 9x19 w/laser
S&W M&P .40 with TLR-2 Light/laser
Taurus .38 special
Pocket .380

This may seem like an overkill, but i have a large house, and if im downstairs i dont want to run up, or in one room, go to the next etc. PLUS, i am just used to it, a culturization of sorts i guess. Plus i dont have to worry about kids (things will change when that happens).

Where do YOU keep your HD handy?

I happen to keep mine next to my bed and only really have it available while I'm sleeping. However, I think a common response you'll get on TFL is that people carry in their homes.

I guess i could simplify things by carrying in home.

But it just aint my style. :DI cant ever see myself carrying in home. To each their own

Yeah, I won't carry in my home. It is the one place I can relax. However, I do always have one within reach.

I carry around my house all the time. Generally I put it on when I get up, then park it in the nightstand when I go to bed.

I keep one handgun on a night table next to the bed, another on a shelf of the computer desk in the library. In addition It is not unusual for me to keep another one on my belt even at home.I just don't want to get caught without if I ever need one quickly.

See when im home, im relaxing and most often not wearing a belt/pants. More likely only Gym shorts or something comfortable.

I too dont want to get caught without, or where i cant get to one because of where it is and where i am. having the BG between me and an accessible gun is not something i want, so i have them in most places.

But like i said i grew up like that, so its what i am used to and fully comfortable with.

SIDE NOTE: People who (and i know many) keep their HD guns in a safe or unloaded are making a HUGE mistake, imo (as most i am sure).

With all due respect SouthCali's signature line :) .. Can’t see wearing one around the house, I like comfort too much, and I haven’t found a gun or rig that feels good against nekkid skin.:D
Several "around the house". The one I usually carry, sleeps hanging on the side of the bed and under the covers.

Attached an old holster to a piece of plywood. The plywood slips between box spring and mattress, allowing it to hang right where I can reach the pistol easily, but not in the bed.

I keep HD weapons in a concealable wallclock or mantle clock on each floor of the house and one in the garage. I also usually have an LCP in my pocket or sometimes a PPK or on the nightstand.

I keep mine in a OWB Don Hume H721 when around the house. Very comfortable, still concealable and easy to have on all day. If I always have it on me there is no reason to have a gun in every room of the house which to me makes things a whole lot simpler.

For the most part I carry one around the house like most people carry a cup of coffee, I have it in a holster and just set it down with in arms reach where ever I decide to sit. Unless of course I've actually gotten dressed and left the house, then its on my belt. I have a few hidden around the house easily accessible to me in case I got up for something to drink and left the walk around gun behind. At bed time same gun goes next to my pillow and the HD Shotgun comes out of the closet and next to my bed. Pretty much my everyday procedure.

Its not that bad it becomes second nature pretty fast. Its really nothing more than just picking up when I stand up and setting her down when i sit.

I carry from Bed to Bed. It's a fallout from my work. The thing that makes it easy is getting the right Holster. I've spent as little as $70.00 for a holster and as much as $300.00 for a carry holster. The other big thing is THE BELT!!!! If it's not comfy enough to carry 16hr/day think new holster!! At night, it's an M4 else to the bed and my duty weapon in a night stand.

I'm pretty simple. I've got a Glock 22 and a Ruger LCP in the bedroom. The basement has a 12ga Mossberg.

Nothing on the first floor, but I don't spend much time there either.

The drawer of my bedside table has, right to left, pistol, flashlight, and spare mag. They are always in the same place in the same order, so I can lay hands on them in the dark if need be. And in a hotel room, they are in the exact same place in the exact same order for the exact same reason.

I carry around the house during the day, but when I change clothes for the evening I rely on the pistol in the drawer. One-story house, not that big, so I figure that I can reach it if needed before anyone could breach a door. I feel perfectly comfortable pocketing a Glock 26 (in Nemesis) before opening the door to an unexpected knock or ring.

On my hip, all day........

At Home or away.
On my night stand, when I go to bed.
I carry it to the bathroom with me when I go for my morning shower.
The best HD weapon is the one you can lay your hand on, where ever you are in the Home.
Take care.

My EDC gun comes out of the holster, gets wiped down, oiled, and sets on the nightstand next to the bed.

I have a shotgun and AR mounted on the wall above the bed...part of the decor, but loaded and ready to go. (Two waterproof ammo boxes full of appropriate ammo for all the weapons next to the nightstand.)

Each room downstairs has a handgun uniquely hidden but easily accessible.

I will not be "surprised" in my own house again.

There is always a gun within arms reach when I am at home. Besides having a weapon concealed in each room of the house, I carry one around from spot to spot and just set it down next to wherever i am sitting.
When we go to bed, it's right in there with us, nice and warm and cudly. My wife says it gets in the way:rolleyes:
