Wheelguns Are For "Oldtimers"??

Got to thinkin' about it, and I've got guns around here that are older'n I am!

The SAA is 1903; a Model 94 is 1902; there's a Mauser Pocket Pistol from the 1920s, and a similar Walther--and the Lilliput. And a Krag, and a Mark 1 Springfield. Hmmm. A 1912-vintage 1911. Me and a Sistema got the same born-on date: 1934.

But a Model 36 tucks away nicely, as does an NAA 5-shot .22 Mag.

A .45 Colt Blackhawk speaks with a certain amount of authority, as does a Redhawk...

They all seem to fit my hand pretty good.

I was 21 when I started carrying a gun, which would have been 1986, or the middle of the "WonderNine" invasion...

Being an impressionable youth, I decided that I had to have the best in defensive armament.

I bought a revolver.

And now that I'm almost 37, I still carry a revolver almost exclusively.

I've had infatuations with semi-autos, but I always come back to the revolver.

I like 'em both! I carry a Colt's Lightweight Commander, or a Beretta 92FS, but use revolvers out in the mountains a great deal of the time, depending on what I'm doing. I also have often carried a revolver, and never felt "undergunned."

And as for age, well, I'm closer to the end than the beginning.

They all work for me.

My age is 43...
Obtained my first handgun at the tender age of 16...a Smith&Wesson Model 19..still have it...
My "Favorite" revolver right now would have to be my Ciamillo-tuned Model 625 in .45 ACP...choice subject to change, of course....mikey357

I am 54. When I really became interested in handguns was the early 70s and everyone shot and carried revolvers. The only autos you saw were Colt 1911s. I carried a S&W Mod 36 in my auto only. Where I grew up in northeast GA small town I don't remember anyone carrying on them except LEOs. I don't even think Georgia had CCW at that time but everyone carried a wheelgun in their car. All autos were considered "widow makers"! I have been away from wheelguns for years until recently but now have Colt 3rd issue Det Spl. Colt OP (1969). RBH 357mag. Ruger Super Single Six. NIB Taurus 85UL. My wife has carried the same S&W Mod 60 in her car since the 80s.

the first handgun I ever shot (1985)was a revolver a S&Wmdl28 , all my handguns except for 2 are revolvers and they are a Para -Ord LDA 14-45 , and a Coonan.357 and I am know only 35 so I officially became an "OLDTIMER" damn wipersnappers and there tactical tuperware , Hey MIke past the geritol would ya? :D my favorite wheeler is my 357 Vaquero

I am 52. My first handgun was a Ruger .357 Blackhawk. The oldest handgun in my current collection (the one I have owned longest) is a Colt MkIV Series 70 .45 ACP.

However I currently own more revolvers than semi-autos. I collect older S&W revolvers since I think they are some of the best firearms ever made.

Another "old-fart" who prefers revolvers

I am 56 years old and as I have said before I am the "Will Rogers" of guns because I never met a gun I didn't like. Revolvers, semi-auto, rifles, shotguns.......I love'em all! HOWEVER, if my life is in danger, I want my revolver first.
I like my Taurus M85 and my next revolver is going to be the Charter 2000 .44 Bulldog. Woof! Thanks for letting me share

I'm 45 and my wife will make darn sure I DON'T forget it. I have a Colt Huntsman and a Browning Hi-Power just because. Other than that it's all revolvers. My favorite is a Ruger Speed Six .357 with 2.75'' barrel. Last night I bought a nearly new 1969 production Smith&Wesson Model 19 4''. Time will tell how that one grows on me.

First, it ain't the age, but the mileage.

43 y.o./.357 Rossi...4 in. barrel. It followed me home the other day and my wife said I could keep it. Only had to do one night on the couch.

I'm 44 and at 18 my first handgun was a stainless 6.5" Ruger Blackhawk .357. I still prefer revolvers over semi-autos though I do own a couple of them as well. BTW, congratulations scarborough on your new purchase, now if for some reason it doesn't grow on you..........;)

I was born...

...the day after the NK's seized the U.S.S. Pueblo.

My favorite revolver is my 5" 625-4.

I carry a 296Ti in my purse every day, and the wheelies most likely to be found on my belt are a 640 Comp, a PC-13 and a 3" 629.

This is a test-right, Tamara? Interesting way to relate the date of your birth. Now I gotta go look it up!!

I am 47 and proud to be a member of the Old Fart Round Gun Club. I like all my revolvers, including my 3" 624, my 4" 681 and my 4" Taurus 431. I'd have to say, however, that my favorite revolver is my slicked-down DAO M-649, because that little turkey goes everywhere with me and also gets shot regularly.

New acquisition is a 2 1/2" SP101. Jury is still out on this, as I haven't shot it yet. It's a little heavier than the J-frame and the grip is a little longer, so it doesn't carry quite as well in an ankle holster and is a little harder to conceal, but on the other side, it's loaded with 110-grain JHP .357 mag W-W white label.

I carry autos, sometimes, too, but it's mostly the round guns that I prefer.

both 4".

I didn't own a handgun untill the early 90's when political winds blew me into the gunstore. After getting a few automatics along with their high capacity magazines I had a wish. I always wanted a 6 shot snubby for the simple beauty and function of it.
It took many rounds for me to be able to hit anything with it but now I would carry nothing else.
Call me an old timer (41 yo) but give me my revolver.:D

Tamara...

"...the day after the NK's seized the U.S.S. Pueblo."

Complain, complain, complain.

I just added to my list of revolvers, a nice 1956 4" S&W M28 Highway Patrolman.

I'm 40 and I've owned several revolvers and autos.

Right now I carry a Taurus 3" model 85 and I also have a Ruger P95DC, a Taurus PT22, a couple of Davis derringers, a Davis .32 auto, a High Standard .22, and a Charter Arms 3" Undercover that my dad is using.

I got the HS 22 when I was about 12 and the Charter when I was about 14 or 15.

I've owned four handguns that I have sold or traded that I should have kept. They are a S&W 586, a Charter Arms Pathfinder, a Rossi snub .38, and a Bersa .380.

And I would have to say that I am more comfortable with a revolver, especially for concealed carry.

30 years old. Wheelguns only right now; had a .22lr mousegun semi for a about a year, sold it, no real regrets.

My "sentimental" favorite is a blue steel Taurus 85 snub, my first handgun. Been along for the ride many a time. Easy to carry.

The Ruger SP-101 3" .357 is a much sturdier and nicer piece, though. Not as easy to carry, but certainly doable (I carry IWB).

I have faith in both guns.
