What's Your "Go To War" Pistol?

In war time I'll go with my P220 in 45 hands down. End of the world zombie scenario would be the G19 in 9mm all day long.

Going to war gun? Same as my night stand gun, same as my concealed carry gun... Same as my compact gun...

How you say?

All of the same guns :D:D:D

CZ-75B in .40 cal.

I would take my CZ-75B .40 cal. w/14 round mags and my rubber Houge grips. It magically returns to the point of aim after every shot.

If I'm going to war? My go to war pistol would be an M16A1.

If I'm in a war and things are so bad that I need a pistol I expect the specific pistol would irrelevant.

No doubt about it,,,

No doubt about it,,,
It would be my CZ-75B.

I've had the pistol for 5-6 years now,,,
I honestly can't remember the last time it failed in any way.

In the first 2-3 hundred rounds I got a few fail to feeds,,,
But after a short while that stopped completely.

There are certainly more great pistols out there,,,
But this is the one I like so it's my choice.

If they are calling up 63 year old vets then there are some issues - and having to provide your own firearm isn't unlikely. Considering there are over 25 million prior service and there are just enough guns to go around in the military, you be the judge.

Ammo compatibility, either 9mm or 5.56?
Range goes to 5.56.
magazine capacity goes to 5.56.
Lethality at 125 meters, 5.56.
Point blank holdover to 250m, 5.56.
Parts availability, AR15 over M9.
Accessories, AR15.

A 10.5" AR15 PISTOL with iron sights and sling, ten 30 magazines, MK262 OTM ammo. Why would I want a dinky 1911 with hardball that couldn't penetrate a 50 year old helmet even then? Or combat Tupperware that can't keep up mag for mag against opposing fire at longer ranges?

War isn't about it being a fair fight, it's about superior firepower and not giving the other guy an even break.

I'd just bring my deer hunting pistol.

My go to war pistol will for the most part be irrelevant but if I had to choose it would most likely be a poly wonder 9mm from Glock or Sig. Capacity and light weight would be key. If weight was not and issue then my LW Alloy BHP.

The reason I say that the pistol will likely be irrelevant is because if I am "fighting" in a war a pistol will be secondary to whatever rifle I have choosen. Most likely an AR or AK variant will be the primary if not something "more serious".

The pistol would be backup. The OPs premise and question shows the unfortunate obsession civilians have with pistols as primary weapons of war. They are simply not that important in the grand scheme. Yes they maybe called on to save your bacon at some point but that is highly unlikely in modern warfare.

My "go to war pistol" would have to be one of the .45ACP's, let's go with the one that the rest of the the military should go with, the HK45!

Hopefully the military should be able to get a better deal on the $70.00 magazines if the are buying in quantity, but I'm not holding my breath!

Pistols are all but useless in war. Mine only left my holster once in combat, and it wasn't fired. That said, I'd carry an XDM 9mm.

And the no hollowpoint thing is an old wives tale. That was part of the Hague Convention, which the US did not sign. DMR 5.56s are shooting 77gr bthps, and snipers are using 175gr bthps in their 7.62s.
