What's Your "Go To War" Pistol?

I am going to limit my response choice to the handguns I presently own. Of the handguns I could choose to go to war from my collection, I would choose my

Ruger New Vaquero, .357 mag, 5.5 inch barrel.

This affords me the power I need and the accuracy I want. And, I certainly won't waste ammo with this (pray and spray), so I will calculate each shot placement the best I can.

That's a beautiful gun indeed and the .357 is an undisputed and well respected SD load. That being said, might you want to consider a DA revolver (or pistol) if you have one available. I only say that in relation to the subject of the thread "Go to War Pistol." A DA setup might be a better choice perhaps ...? Obviously in the real world I think your choice is fine but in the hypothetical....

Right now? With weapons I own right now? F*ck. I'm gonna get flamed. My daisy sling shot is the closest thing to a pistol I got so that with .38 steel ammo. But my main weapon would be my bow (que the Rambo jokes). But if I could choose any pistol it would be either a Makarov PM or a H&K USP. 9MM.

During OIF I carried the Beretta M9 and it never let me down. Maybe because I never took it out of the holster except for maintenance :D being serious though, glock 20

Of my current inventory, my Taurus 24/7 OSS 45acp, with a snubby Charter Bulldog 44 SPL in a pocket for backup.

Free market purchase if I know I am going to war. I want a 9mm Mauser 1896 Broomhandle. If it is good enough for Churchill, It will be fine for me.:D

a no brainer for me. colt 1991 1911, and even though no one asked...my wasr AK 47 with a 75 round drum...and two 40 round clips..

My glock 17....

"Go to War": is this as in an apocalypse? or as in drafted and supported by the US Government with logistical support/ammo?

If I have to scrounge ammo and I am not in North America, I'd go with a 9mm for ammo availability. Probably can't go wrong with the Glock G17, but I like my Browning Hi Power better.

If I am being supported by the government and they provide all the ammo I need, I'd prefer a .45, but I'd settle for a .40 also. I'd probably go with M&P .45 or a good 1911 platform, or an M&P .40 with full-capacity magazines.

It all depends on what type of war, on which continent, with what type of logistical support I can expect.

while torn between my two favorite girls(IWI Jericho 941 or my Sig pro 2022)
the choice of 9mm is a no brainer
the 9mm luger round is the most common bullet on earth in any location
so to the fella above dual wielding 50 cal Desert Eagles, a. good luck hitting anything B. when you run out of that caliber round what you going to do with them things? Use them as a hammer?
Remember this thread asks what you would go to "war" with. Not make a movie with. I love my Jericho but I got it in 9mmx19 for a reason.
Ultimately the Jericho would win out for the simple fact its a better platform. As much as I love my 2022 and it is an amazing pistol, very accurate you can see the difference in the tolerances.
The slide on my Jericho, was hand fit to the lower. The slide on my Sig was made in a completely different country than the lower. Great pistol but not up to the end of the world fire fight.
