Whats your favorite rifle?

When it comes down to it, Remington 788 in .308. Accurate enough to make me smile at the range and the size makes it a pleasure to carry in the woods.

original Winchester 94's hands down.
I have three: a 1980 trapper .30-30
a 1979 Big Bore .375
a pre-64 .25-35 (which I'm currently building)

Hard question.

I do like modern rifles, but the older ones just have so much more character.

Right now I would say my favorite is my Remington 1903A3. It has good sights, a butter smooth action, and is extremely accurate.

A close second would be my Soviet rework Mauser K98k. It was made by the Germans in 1940, near the height of their power, captured by the Russians at some point, then reworked by the Communists for use in the event of war with the West. What do you think the Soviet armorer who worked on it during the 50s would have said if you told him that 60 years later it would be owned by a fat guy in California?

Third would be my CMP M1, made before Pearl Harbor, and reworked over time so that no two parts on it appear to be original (Bolt is from 1945, barrel is from 1950, Oprod is post war ('46-'51) , Trigger housing is ~1943)

Remington 700 XCR Compact Tactical. Small and handy. Not too heavy. Extremely accurate. Tough finish. Good balance.

It depends what you mean by favorite...

I am most enamored with my Savage 10 7mm08. I only have about 15 rounds through it, so it still holds a fair amount of mystique for me.

The one I shoot the most is my Marlin 795 .22 - you can't go wrong with a .22 for plinking, and the ammo is plentiful and cheap :)

If you mean the rifle I would get if I had my druthers, my next hankering is for a .243 as a secondary deer rifle that can double for varminting if need be.

Favorite rifle?,,, Or favorite of the ones I own?

My favorite rifle of all time is the Ruger #1 series of rifles,,,
I absolutely love the sheer aesthetics of the rifles,,,
I am impressed by their inherent accuracy,,,
And I am a great fan of single-shots.

The caliber wouldn't matter at all to me,,,
I just love the guns themselves.

My favorite rifle of the ones I own,,,
Is my CZ-452 Special Military Trainer in .22 LR.,,,
I shoot better with this rifle than any other rimfire rifle I have ever owned.

Besides the fact that I think it is aesthetically a beautiful rifle.

I like lever action Marlins. As far as caliber I like the 45/70 for big game and the 357 magnum for plinking and small game (up to deer)

I have 2 Win model 70's that I love.

One in 243 is my primary deer/coyote gun, shoots a variety of loads accurately, was given to me by my grandpa.

The other is in 30-06, was my high school graduation present from my dad. I brought 3 rifles to elk camp last year thinking I would split time with them... couldn't bring myself to use anything other than my '06. I've shot a bunch of elk with that thing and I'll shoot a bunch more;)

No matter how many other rifles I buy (they are stacking up lately) these two are still my favorites and get the most hunting time. Some others maybe get more range time, but these are my hunters.

changes every day but if i had to go on a once in a life time hunt for about any big game species one rifle that would come along is my rem lss in 300 win mag. Its a tack driver, its weather resistant and has killed everything ive aimed it at.

My "FN" Winchester Model 70 Featherweight. Accurate, well balanced, smooth action. The metalwork and woodwork are first class.

My favorite that's leaning against the wall now is a Savage 93R17 in .17HMR.

Unfortunately I have only limited use for it at the moment.
