Whats your best handgun buy?

1. My S&W 4" nickeled M-27. Paid $250 in 1985, and it came with an action job.
2. My near mint 1932 Enfield No. 2 Mk I. $35 in 1972.

Last month, I picked up a S&W Model 66 no dash, along with 2 speed loaders, 2 sets of pachmayr grips - gripper grips and presentation grips - as well as a Blackhawk black leather holster and black leather speedloader holder that holds two speed loaders.

All of that for 330 dollars, out the door. I think I did well.

Ruger 22 semi pistol for 30.00 sold it a week later for 45.00 and thought I'd made a killing (This was fall 1970 though)

I guess I must have run into a bunch of good deals..... I am running out of room to store them.

The best deal I ever got was in 1978. The local gun shop had bought some Parker Hale Super 1200 Mauser Actions made in Ye Olde England. He threw in a Redfield 3-9x Scope for a total of $175.00. One accurate rifle. The local fellas thought it was too pretty and and didnt want it unless it said Remington or Winchester on the Rifle.

I still have it after 33 + years of service. I changed the nice blue finish to parkerizing and glass bedded the stock.

original new in box Intratec Tec 9 for 175$ when they were selling for 600$ about 8 years ago with manuals an original accessories........and get this I got one that shoots flawless

2000 rounds rapid fire and slow fire an thing is accurate with all the dif mags i bought...love this gun!

S&W Model 36,,,
Colt Trooper Mk-III,,,
Dakota SAA clone in .357,,,
Sauer & Sons SAA clone in .357,,,
She sold me all four pistols for $500.00.

Then she handed me her father's S&W 629-no dash as a gift.

I told her I was completely ripping her off at that price,,,
She said she just wanted the guns to go to a good home and be shot.

Aarond

P.S. I did help her catalog, price, and sell more than 45 other guns from her fathers collection.

.

NIB Colt Delta Elite in 1989 for $425. Best price I could get from a friend with a FFL was over $500. Guy was writing up 2 at a time, had a bunch.

I would definitely have to say my Glock 19, not because I got a steal on it (got it for a very reasonable price though) but because it has been an absolutely flawless pistol.

My best deal was a Luger

I've bought many handguns, and I've got many deals, but here is my best:

A 1913 DWM Dutch contract Luger, all original pieces with original mag, cleaning rod and holster. $740 OTD from a dealer. Apparently a woman brought it to him, from her father's estate to be appraised and sold on consignment. He apparently captured it from a Japanese soldier after the Japanese soldier captured it from a Dutch East Indies soldier. The holster does have the Kanji markings in the flap. After the dealer consulted with "experts" it was (mis)appraised at $900. I didn't really know how great it was until I got it and did more research. I was lucky that it sat around for about 2 months before I bought it. My one and only luger, but a good one.

Oh, I have a few.

I got a NIB Sig 225 for $250.00 two years ago.

I bought a 1941 nickel plated Nazi presentation Walther PPK from a pawn shop for $600.00.

I sumbled across a guy who needed money. He sold me eleven mint condition Walthers ranging from a 1967 unfired PPK to a P5 compact and P88 compact for what the two compact pistols together would bring.

A Manurhin brushed chrome PPK/S for $350.00.

Has to be my Browning Hi-Power, early '80s vintage, highly accurate and wholly reliable, bought in 2008 for $350. :)

$350 otd for a perfect condition 80BS (series 70) Colt Combat Commander with custom trigger, Krieger accu-rails and custom fitted & crowned barrel.

Has to be my Browning Hi-Power, early '80s vintage, highly accurate and wholly reliable, bought in 2008 for $350

Nice score!!! A BHP is at the top of my "me want" list.

.44 Mtn revolver, first generation

I had been reading about the Mtn .44 (629) in Guns & Ammo. Ross SEYFRIED (?) had written a pretty neat article and the revolver made sense.
I had traded away my blue 6inch M29 (who knew) the first year of the Clinton/Reno administration to buy a Mini-30 and did not own a .44. The 6inch was too darn big for regular belt carry, for me, anyhow. The slim 629 with the round butt and tapered barrel seemed ideal for a portable .44M.

This was 1990 or there abouts. I guess. I was small talking a local guy who had a reputatioin for not hanging onto guns very long. It was not a bad idea to check with him now and again to see what he had for sale. He was into .44M at the time, mostly Super B's and some other SA I don't recall, maybe a Hawes. I mentioned the Mtn revolver as something I was interested in and he promptly replied "I have one for sale." Asking price was $350 and I bought it soon as I could make it down to the bank and back. I've been offered over $500 for it recently. NOt for sale.

I'm fairly new to guns, but I've gotten a couple of good deals in the past month. First was a beautiful Beretta tomcat. 32 inox, like new with box and case for $220. Second was a Kimber ultra carry ii for $500. One was from a forum and one was from online local classified ads.

Paid $300 for this Ruger Redhawk in 2008. Came with a shoulder holster, 50 rounds of .44 Mag JHP and a plastic pistol case. :p

She also picked up a 4" S&W 681-3 in 2006 for $350.

I bought this like new short rail (1977) CZ75 last year. It had the original box and magazines. The seller asked for $500. I have seen only two short rail guns for sale in similar condition in the last two years, advertised by a guy in AZ for $2000 and $2200 respectively. Don't know if he ever sold them. I would guess that there are fewer than 200 in the US, due to import embargos at the time they were made (we had no trade with Czechoslovakia before the Berlin wall came down in 1989), and these guns were only made with the short rail for a few years. I'd value it at $1500.
