Whats the most you ever paid for a pistol & was it worth it ??

Handguns - I seem to be doing better than most. I have yet to pay more than $550.00 for any. G27, USP .45F and C, EII. Although I am strongly considering a Les B.

Shotguns - paid $750 for a Vang

Rifles - 700 P - hmmm, well thus far it has done some damage but I am eyeing a new USO scope for about $1,500 - collectively - that is serious damage.

Why is this hobby sooooooooo expensive????????

Highest total spent on one gun: about $1,500 or so on a Colt Delta Elite, which includes extensive custom work done by Dane Burns. Worth it.

Most spent for a gun "as is," $950 on an old SIG P210. Worth it.

All you guys can eat your heart out...

best deal, and most "I" ever spent...

OK, well not exactly me, but my wife worked overtime and bought me a 100%, unfired Colt SAA .44-40 for $825. Two days later Colt announced their plan to discontinue production. Before I got it out of lay-away the next week I was offered $1,200.

I wouldn't take $10,000 for it now. Some things are worth more than money.

I bought a Tussey Custom Colt Officers Model 3 1/2" with every concievable option for $3000.00 sold it 6 months later for $4200.00 ( put a pool in). This guy also bought my Python brand new for $1300.00,an H&K P7M10 (.40 S&W) nickel from me for $1600.00 NIB, a P7M13 w/ night sights nickel NIB $1500.00, Colt SAA .45 w/ ivory grips for $1350.00, and 2 Italian Ivory gripped switchblade stilettos w/ 7" blades for $750.00 each. Saved over ten grand on a $25,000 built in swimming pool. Am I sorry I sold some of those things? Sure. But I wouldn't have the pool. I still have 5 Les Baers ( S.R.P., Thunder Ranch, T.D.P., Prowler, & Custom Carry), Wilson Sentinel, H&K P7M13 (I had 2), Walther P5c, Sig P210, H&K Mark 23, 4 Glocks, 2 S&W Performance Centers 357 mags. NAA Guardian 380, & 2 NAA mini revolvers 1 in 22 lr, and 1 in 22 mag. when it gets hot. Will I sell these? Yes, someday when I want something else. I don't have the funds I once did. I got hurt at work and now retired. Thats why I sold those guns to put in the pool. Do I have buyers remorse when purchasing guns worth that much? All the time. It was my one weakness. I can't do it anymore. I was probably very foolish with my money and should have banked more of it. Too smart too late.

I believe I bought my Kimber Pro CDP for $900 + tax. With extra mags its over a grand, but it is worth every penny. It feels GREAT and shoots like a champ! Definitely worth it!

This pistol is one of the only ones I've paid full-retail price for. I always manage to get great deals on my others: HK P7M8 for $600, P7K3 for $525, P9S Target 9mm for $400, Kimber SS Target for $400 (with $150 worth of accessories!), etc...

I hear you Skunkabilly, your probably right. I guess we all feel a little guilty for having a nice handgun when we also may need a new roof or our car needs attention. That is the problem with hobbies- finding that thin line between being sensable and psychotic about something. How many of us cross that line? Better yet, how many will admit it?

Was the price worth it?

Was the price worth it? The money I spent on the first four pistols that I purchased, was not well spent. Oh, sure, the pistols were all cheap but thats the problem. They were cheaply made, inaccurate and malfunctioned quite often. Could not and would not trust my life to any of them. So, I guess that the price was not worth it.

The next three pistols I bought were all expensive. I bought the a top of the line Wilson, Les Baer's flagship pistol and a fully customized 1911. These three all have an awesome look about them and are deadly accurate shooters. I paid a very high price for them. Were they worth the price?

None have ever malfunctioned. They have beautiful finish, great workmanship and I would wear any of theim my hip to protect my family and self.

Can you put a price on this?

Shepsan, if you need a gun and you have it on you it is well worth the money, whatever you paid. Believe me you'll hope it goes bang when you need it to. Thats why I always spent good money on guns, I wanted to get back home and see my family. I was involved in 3 robbery attempts in the last 28 years. The first time I was 19 and a football player unarmed working in a convenience store, I was unarmed and stupid I told the drug addict with the gun I was gonna kick his *ss, he somehow believed me and turned tail and ran (Thank God!). Thats when I went out and got my permit and promised myself to never be unarmed again. The next 2 times I was ready and armed. They never got what they came for. All 3 times I was working in a bad section of Bridgeport,CT which has a higher murder rate-per- capita than New York City. All three times I was scared out of my mind and shook like a leaf when it was over. It's never as easy as you think it will be when you play a scenario of what might happen in your mind. I hope I never have to be in that situation again, but if I am I want the most exspensive handgun I can wrap my hands around on my hip.

Hello. The most I've spent on a single handgun was around 2K for a SIG P210 w/.22 conversion. Worth it? While the pistol's a work of art in its fit, finish, accuracy and attention to detail, to me it is not and I'm in no way "knocking" this highest quality pistol.

However, it bites the fire out of me when shooting and the smallish sights, while exactly "dead on" out of the box are getting harder to see with each passing year. I'm hesitant to bob the hammer as replacements if I messed up are exceptionally expensive and hard to find.

Replacement parts and even spare single-stack magazines ($100 each) are just too high for me.

So, in this case, not worth it to me. Others sure might feel differently.

However, two fairly costly pistols to me that WERE definitely worth it were my STI Longslide 9mm Trojan and FN Competition model 9mm. Both of these shoot as tightly as does the SIG P210, at least in my hands, and neither bites the hand that fires it. Replacement parts can be had for much less money and the sights are easier to see...at least for me.

Best.

Colt .45 for $1000 and a 9mm $500 dollar. This is so much for me already in my country as the rate is 50times against the US dollar.

the .45 value increases everytime I made addditional improvements.
